Consulting For Architects, Inc.

Consulting For Architects, Inc. CFA was founded in 1984 by David C. McFadden, a young designer who quickly became wary of the traditional path of working for one firm, anchored to one desk.

Consulting for Architects in was founded in 1984 with one goal in mind: To identify architects and firms with compatible design sensibilities and match them on a project or permanent basis. To escape the trap of repetition and rote encountered by most architectural professionals in the first few years of their careers, McFadden gave up secure employment and benefits and started freelancing. He rea

lized there were many others like him wrestling with the same issues he faced and became convinced there was a business opportunity outside of traditional hiring practices. On this notion, he launched CFA as a service to match independent designers and architects with like-minded firms. Within less than a decade of pioneering the concepts of “flex hiring,” “full-time freelancing” and “project consulting,” CFA was firmly established as the industry’s most-trusted go-to source for architecture and design talent. Other staffing businesses jumped into the game, but none could match CFA’s innate expertise and experience within the profession. Today, project consulting has become the norm. Contingent workers have been a growing segment of the labor force since the recovery began in 2010, accounting for 26.2% of private sector hiring. CFA is a true “market-maker,” with thousands of successful project and permanent placements, all thanks to you—its esteemed clients, comprised of hundreds of independent professionals and firms on both sides of the hiring equation.
