Last Friday, Mateo Gaón and Wilmer Cantos had the pleasure of representing Cantos Inc. at the FAAE Inc’s 18th Annual Invitational Golf Tournament!

We are extremely grateful to FAAE for the invitation and for organizing such an enjoyable event in support of the FAAE Scholarship Fund. The terrific weather, great food, golf, raffle prizes, and most importantly the wonderful conversations with fellow members of the engineering community made it a memorable day.

Thank you to everyone at FAAE for the warm welcome and hospitality. We had a lot of fun and look forward to continuing to support the organization and its important mission of investing in the next generation of engineers.

This past Thursday, Ruijie (Raymond) Xie and I represented Cantos Inc. at the MWBE Regional Opportunities Expo at the Javits Center.

We had valuable conversations with representatives from several city and state agencies about upcoming opportunities and how MWBE firms like ours can continue to grow, contribute, and build meaningful partnerships.

A personal highlight was reconnecting with Roxana Escobar Kariyannis. When I was at AECOM, Roxana was a great mentor to me. Her guidance and encouragement have continued to influence my professional journey, and I am truly grateful for the support she has given me over the years.

I am especially excited to see Roxana begin her entrepreneurial journey as Founder and President of NAWI Inc. I look forward to seeing her continued success as an entrepreneur and all that she will accomplish in this new chapter.

July is Disability Pride Month; a time to recognize the rights, achievements, and contributions of people with disabilities.

Accessible transportation benefits everyone: people using wheelchairs, older adults, parents with strollers, travelers carrying luggage, and anyone with temporary mobility limitations.

Transportation connects people to employment, education, healthcare, family, and opportunity. Throughout history, the ability to move efficiently has helped civilizations grow, and today, that freedom should belong to everyone.

At Cantos Inc., we are proud to support accessibility improvements throughout NY’s transportation infrastructure through LiDAR scanning, Scan-to-BIM modeling, BIM coordination, Inspections and engineering support.

We also recognize Quemuel Arroyo, the MTA Construction & Development’s Chief Accessibility Officer, for his leadership and commitment to creating a more accessible transportation system. As a fellow New York University alumnus whom I have had the pleasure of getting to know, I deeply appreciate his advocacy and the impact of his work.

👷 Meet Pedro Machuca, one of the newest members of the Cantos Inc. engineering team.

As an Electrical Engineer | BIM Engineer, Pedro is already contributing to our transportation infrastructure projects by developing coordinated 3D BIM models for electrical and communications systems.

Since joining Cantos Inc., he has been modeling electrical conduits, routing systems, and coordinating field devices across multiple electrical, communications, and security systems. His work helps create accurate, coordinated digital models that improve design quality, enhance coordination, and support successful project delivery.

At Cantos Inc., we believe our people are our greatest strength. By continuing to invest in talented professionals and embracing innovative technologies, we are expanding our ability to deliver high-quality engineering solutions and exceptional service to our clients.

Engineering begins in the field.

This weekend, our team was on site supporting field inspections and reality capture, working alongside other engineering teams to thoroughly assess existing conditions.

Every project benefits from a collaborative approach. While each team brings its own expertise from inspections and engineering assessments we all share the same objective: collecting accurate field data that leads to better designs, smarter decisions, and successful project delivery.

Cantos Inc. was pleased to attend the MTA Construction & Development Industry Outreach Day for Contract C26204 – Systems, Finishes, Entrances, and Ancillary Buildings for the Second Avenue Subway Phase 2 project.

The event provided valuable insight into the project scope, upcoming opportunities, and pathways for industry participation. It was also a great opportunity to connect with industry leaders and fellow professionals committed to delivering transformative infrastructure projects throughout the region.

We appreciated the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with representatives from MTA Construction & Development, Hardee Brothers, EXP, DOSE ENGINEERING, PLLC, and other industry partners.

Wilmer Cantos of Cantos Inc. recently attended the CMAA Metro NY/NJ Chapter event, “AI – A Critical Approach at a Critical Time.”

The discussion brought together leaders from construction, transportation, and public agencies to explore how AI is transforming project delivery, project controls, asset management, and infrastructure development.

At Cantos Inc., we believe AI, when combined with Reality Capture, Scan-to-BIM, Digital Twins, and engineering expertise, has the potential to significantly improve efficiency, decision making, and project outcomes across the built environment.

We’re excited to welcome our newest team member, Ruijie Xie, to Cantos Inc. as an Entry-Level Civil Engineer!

As a recent graduate of Columbia University with a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, he brings a strong background in structural design and construction management. He is especially passionate about how emerging technologies like BIM and AI can transform the civil engineering and architecture industries.

At Cantos Inc., he looks forward to contributing to civil and infrastructure projects while continuing to strengthen his technical expertise and project management skills. Over the next five years, his goal is to continue learning new technologies and applying them to real-world engineering challenges.

Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, playing tennis, and exploring cities and architecture.
