ICYMI: Here’s a look at what went into the innovative Marine Way project:

Coming in at an incredible 17.9 million pounds, the Marine Way box bridge in Irvine, CA was pushed into place leveraging an innovative box-jacking method. The work was completed in a single weekend rail shutdown (less than 24 hours to jack the bridge into place). In a separate rail work window, the Borrego Channel structure was jacked into place using the same method, another key milestone for the project.

This was the first project of its kind on the West Coast (and may have been the largest, heaviest monolithic structure jacked into place in North America in this short of a shutdown window). The inventive approach delivered important benefits, including: minimizing disruptions to rail service, helping to create a future connection between Great Park and Irvine Spectrum/Interstate 5, and enabling a reduction in time-to-completion.

This project was made possible by a team committed to excellence, innovation, extensive planning, safe ex*****on, and finding creative solutions to complex challenges. Team RailPros is proud to have played a role alongside our project partners in bringing these remarkable achievements to life for the City of Irvine, Metrolink, and FivePoint Holdings, LLC. Understanding your audience is a key part of effective training, including for rail and rail-related disciplines. On Training Tip Tuesday, here are 3 things to keep in mind when preparing a learning experience for your team:

1. Training delivery method matters. Everyone learns in a different way, so ensure you account for diverse groups with options for all learners.

2. Innovation isn’t always tech. Sometimes, simply presenting a topic in a different setting creates a light bulb moment!

3. Accommodate everyone. Be mindful of classroom and on-the-job training distractions or learning difficulties to ensure a positive learning environment.

When it comes to rail and rail-related training, staying aware of your audience is key for creating an engaging, effective learning experience for everyone.

Marine Way Undercrossing - 17.9M pound bridge installed in under 24 hours! You read that correctly, the 17.9 million pound Marine Way box bridge in Irvine, CA was pushed into place in less than 24 hours. Take a look at this innovative approach in action!

Using a groundbreaking hydraulic box-jacking method, which minimizes disruptions to rail service, the bridge was constructed adjacent to its final location and pushed into position, creating a future roadway connection between Great Park and Irvine Spectrum/Interstate 5.

This was accomplished through innovation, teamwork (across all partners on the project), extensive planning, and safe ex*****on. Team RailPros is proud to have supported this effort alongside the project's other key partners.

This week (September 21 - 27) marks See Tracks? Think Train Week (formerly Rail Safety Week). This annual awareness campaign is run by Operation Lifesaver, Inc. and its partners across North America with the goal of promoting the importance of rail safety education and encouraging everyone to make safe choices near railroad tracks and trains. Keep an eye out as we post rail safety tips throughout the coming week, and join us in spreading awareness of this crucial message.

25 years later, we remember and honor the victims of September 11, 2001, and their families. We also recall the courage shown by our first responders and all others who rushed to provide aid on 9/11 and in the months that followed.

We will never forget.

Nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives on this day 25 years ago. September 11, 2001 is a day we must never forget.

Today we remember their sacrifices. We also honor the courage of the first responders, transportation workers, and all of those who answered the call of duty that day to serve the country.

Their bravery will never be forgotten. They are the patriots who make America the greatest country in the world.
