The landscape was designed to thoughtfully integrate two public sitting spaces with natural plantings—welcoming spots to relax under native shade trees, let your pup play in the dog run, or enjoy blooming perennials with a coffee in hand. Every step of this project was carefully coordinated to protect existing utilities, ensure long-term quality, and create a clean, green finished space.

All of this was delivered in partnership with Stencil Group and Gori & Associates, with CSG completing the civil, landscape, and surveying work.

When it comes to new developments, landscape planning is not just about curb appeal... it’s about sustainability, safety, and long-term maintenance! Here are some of the technical requirements guiding our planning efforts for the recently constructed Lodge at Oak Landing, a 148-unit market-rate apartment in Cambridge, MN:

- Plant material is nursery-grade, disease-free, and maintained for two full growing seasons.
- Pollinator-safe plants (no neonicotinoids!) allowed, this helps protect our bees.
- Efficient, programmable irrigation system required to ensure healthy growth.
- All disturbed ground is seeded or sodded.
- Parking lots include interior landscaping covering at least 5% of the area (not just around the edges!)

The landscape design at Oxboro Heights creates year-round visual interest and enhances walkability through a thoughtful mix of canopy, evergreen, and ornamental trees. These are layered with perennials, shrubs, and boulders to provide texture and structure, while durable edging and low-maintenance planting beds ensure long-term performance.

This senior housing development at 600 W. 93rd St. is part of Bloomington’s broader vision to reimagine Lyndale Avenue, demonstrating how city-led initiatives and creative financing can drive progress in affordable housing.

In addition to the landscape architecture, the project tackled several complex civil engineering elements, including an underground stormwater detention system, challenging site grading conditions, heated driveway ramps for year-round access, and a stormwater lift station to support site drainage.

The landscape design for this site emphasizes year-round interest, durability, and ecological responsiveness. A carefully selected mix of deciduous, ornamental, and evergreen species including Autumn Gold Ginkgo, Prairie Fire Crabapple, and Black Hills Spruce provides structure and seasonal variation. Groundcover, perennials, and grasses such as Karl Foerster Grass and Stella Supreme Daylily add texture at the pedestrian scale. With a fully programmable irrigation system and mulched planting beds, the site is designed for both longevity and low-maintenance performance.
