How do you explain a groundbreaking environmental model in 60 seconds?

That was the exciting challenge our Creative Services team took on for Green Cities Accord. We're proud to share the final video, which was developed for their UMN Carlson School of Management MN Cup entry!

Our team used storytelling and animation to capture their mission: building climate-resilient communities by funding urban tree planting through carbon offsets. Check out the video to see how they're growing a greener future for the Twin Cities and beyond!

It’s officially open! ✂️🎉 We were thrilled to celebrate the ribbon-cutting for the newly improved Highway 10 (Engler Boulevard) in Chaska.

This vital project enhances safety, improves traffic flow, and addresses long-term transportation needs for everyone who uses this corridor. Users will see and feel benefits from the upgrades — whether you’re driving, walking, biking, or moving freight. We want to extend a huge congratulations to our partners at Carver County, Minnesota Government , City of Chaska MN - Government , and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The upgrades are significant, featuring:

🔹 Three new turbo roundabouts at Bavaria Road, White Oak Drive, and Highway 41, which will increase safety and improve traffic flow.
🔹 Improved intersection safety at Highway 41 with grade-separated crossings for bikes and pedestrians.
🔹 An expanded, smoother roadway with four lanes between Bavaria Road and Park Ridge Drive.

Congratulations to everyone involved on successfully delivering a project that will serve this growing community for years to come!

SRF staff spent a beautiful fall afternoon volunteering at the Soo Line Community Garden in Minneapolis! 🍂

A huge thank you to our 13 dedicated staff members who rolled up their sleeves to help fill raised garden beds with fresh soil, preparing them for a flourishing spring. SRF's EcoTeam partnered with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board for a fantastic day of teamwork, connecting with colleagues, and giving back to the Minneapolis community. We believe in building stronger communities, both through our projects and through hands-on service.

Happy National Roundabouts Week!

At SRF, we're passionate about creating transportation solutions that are both efficient and, most importantly, safe. Modern roundabouts are a perfect example of this, reducing severe crashes by 82 percent on average at former two-way, stop-controlled intersections and 78 percent on average where traffic signals once stood. They also improve traffic flow, reduce vehicle emissions, and create safer crossings for pedestrians and cyclists.

We're proud to have partnered with many communities to design innovative roundabout solutions. A big thank you to our clients and project partners for their collaboration in making our roads safer for everyone.

At SRF, our projects are more than just plans and materials; they're about people. For Project Manager Jamie Wark, improving transportation safety for Tribal communities is deeply personal. We are incredibly proud to have passionate experts like him on our team, whose personal connections and dedication bring a deeper level of understanding and commitment to the communities we serve.

And if you're heading to next week's National Transportation in Indian Country Conference in Chandler, Arizona, Sept. 21-25, you won't want to miss presentations by Jamie and Matthew Knight, sharing their expertise alongside their Tribal project partners.

In honor of National Water Quality Month, we’d like to showcase a water quality success story: the stormwater infrastructure and native habitat restoration at the Columbia Golf Course and Park in Minneapolis.

The project was a joint effort by the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, City of Minneapolis Government and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to fix flooding and drainage issues at the golf course and in the surrounding neighborhoods. The SRF team led the design of new stormsewer infrastructure that conveys runoff from an 813-acre area into three new vegetated stormwater treatment basins. Stormwater pretreatment units were also installed in key locations to provide additional pollutant removal.

In addition to treating polluted runoff from a large portion of Northeast Minneapolis, the project added 19 acres of native habitat — which is on full display this week with late summer wildflower blooms.

A long list of partners, funders and contractors contributed to the project. Check out the MWMO’s website for more details:

SRF is excited to be part of the team bringing Minnesota's first-ever turbo roundabouts to the City of Chaska! These innovative intersections are part of the Highway 10 (Engler Boulevard) reconstruction project.

“Turbo roundabouts” are designed to improve safety and traffic flow by enhancing channelization to guide drivers into the correct lane before entering the circle, and by encouraging lower entry speeds. This design keeps traffic moving efficiently and safely for all users of the roadway. The project also features safety enhancements for bikes and pedestrians, including separated box culvert crossings at the intersection of Highway 10 and Highway 41.

We're proud to partner with the of Chaska MN - Government, Carver County, Minnesota Government, and Minnesota Department of Transportation to deliver this forward-thinking infrastructure solution.

Take a look at these aerial views of the turbo roundabouts under construction!

Check out this blog post from our own Brian Genskow about the award-winning WIS 130 River Crossing project south of Lone Rock, Wisconsin. 👇

Just south of Lone Rock, the WIS 130 project replaced three aging bridges, improved safety at a hazardous intersection, and minimized environmental impact.

Thanks to collaboration between Wisconsin Department of Transportation, SRF Consulting Group, Inc., and the entire project team, the new crossing is delivering benefits for travelers.

It was all sunshine and bubbles for SRF employees and their families on the Minneapolis office's patio for the annual company picnic last week. An inflatable jump house and velcro dartboard loomed over corn hole players while all around employees caught up with each other, dined on hot dogs and hamburgers, and introduced their family members to all. Cheers and laughter filled the patio solidifying another successful picnic for the SRF community!
