We are constantly benchmarking how production ADAS [vehicles] handles challenging scenarios (such as work zones). We’ve learned that Tesla autopilot is still among the best L2 systems but does fail periodically when the lane markings are compromised. However, switching to FSD and the lateral control is perfect, FSD can still decipher a proper path, even when there are challenging scenarios [no lane markings] that would throw off most ADAS.
Just when I thought the flow of autonomous vehicle (AV) hype was declining, the auto industry’s quest for “Level 4 autonomy” is coming back as a fresh talking point among carmakers. What changed?
