A well-earned HSNZ team day out!

We recently got the crew together for a bit of time away from work, starting with lunch before putting everyone’s teamwork to the test in an escape room. Happy to report we made it out within the allotted time.

Next up was bowling, where things got a little more competitive. Chris took out the win with a very respectable 117, earning himself HSNZ bowling bragging rights.

It was awesome to have Malakai join us for the day too. He’s still on ACC leave recovering from his mountain biking accident and still has a fair bit of healing ahead of him but we were glad he was able to come along and spend some time with the team.

A great afternoon with a pretty awesome bunch of people. It’s not very often we manage to get everyone away from jobs and in the same place at once, so it was nice to make the most of it.

Welcome to the HSNZ team, Shane!

We’re excited to officially welcome Shane to Height Services NZ.

Shane brings more than 25 years of hands-on trade experience across rope access, fabrication, welding, mechanical engineering, vehicle fit-outs, maintenance and heavy industry. Better yet, he’s no stranger to working at height, having previously spent many years as an Industrial Abseiler.

It didn’t take long for him to settle into the team… and of course complete one of our unofficial HSNZ rites of passage.

Every HSNZ technician seems to end up with one of these photos, and now Shane has officially earned his place in the collection.

Welcome aboard, Shane—we’re looking forward to having you on the ropes with us!

Some late night urgent modifications by fabricating and tig welding last night by the team

Confined space tank inspections. We found multiple areas where the epoxy had failed and started corroding the floor.
We quickly welded patch pannels overtop and painted a epoxy paint layer over top.

Sometimes the job takes us underground.

Carl recently carried out an inspection of slide gates within a central drain structure, navigating confined space conditions to assess the condition and operation of the equipment.

No two days are the same in height safety and engineering, and we're always up for the challenge.
