Proud moment for the team this week.
During our recent visit to the MAC Show in Birmingham, organised by Herefordshire & Worcestershire Group Training HWGTA, James, one of our first-year apprentices, took part in the virtual welding competition and achieved the highest score among the 368 entrants.
His prize included a tour of the Air Liquide site in Coleshill and a brand new multi-process welder, a great achievement and a good reflection of his training, skill, focus, and potential, not bad for a day out at the show!
During the tour, he had the chance to see:
- How industrial gases are produced, and stored,
- The scale and complexity of Air Liquide’s operations,
- The technology behind the equipment we use every day.

After the tour, we received a message from Alex Parlato, Retail Operations Manager at Energas/Air Liquide: “As promised, please see attached a couple of photos from the day. Hopefully, we can establish a working relationship between us, as it seems there are many applications where we can support you with gas and equipment.”

KGD would like to extend a huge thank you to Energas - Air Liquide for the warm welcome and support.
We look forward to building a strong working relationship in the future.

Reducing the embedded carbon of every package we fabricate — because the energy used to build CCUS and hydrogen equipment matters as much as the emissions it goes on to abate. Lower whole-life carbon for our clients. One more reason to manufacture in-house.

Captured this week in our fabrication bay: heavy-duty skid bases under construction for upcoming compressor and process packages destined for carbon capture applications.
In-house fabrication means we control the schedule, the quality, and the cost — without the lead-time risk that comes with outsourcing structural work to third parties.
Designed, fabricated, and delivered under one roof.

A snapshot of our final assembly building.
Four centrifugal compressor packages are progressing through our assembly line simultaneously — unit one nearing completion at the far end, unit two with gearbox installation underway, and gas racks staged and ready to be fitted to units two, three, and four.
Parallel production. Controlled sequencing. Delivered to the programme.
This is what in-house skid packaging capability looks like at scale.

Restoration over replacement. ♻️
This grain silo came to us worn by time and exposure. We carried out full surface preparation via shot blasting, followed by a protective coating system designed to significantly extend its operational life.
At KGD, our shot blasting and surface treatment capabilities aren't limited to new build — we regularly return aged and weathered assets to full working condition, saving clients the cost and environmental impact of replacement.
Built to last. Restored to perform.

Expanding our NDT capabilities at Hursey Road.
Construction is underway on our third radiographic testing bunker — joining the two existing facilities at our Netherwood Rd site. Once operational, the new bunker will increase our weld X-ray throughput and improve workflow efficiency by eliminating inter-site travel for RT inspection.
Growing infrastructure. Growing capacity. Built to increase the services to our clients.
