Project Update: Tram Grade Separation Projects
ESO Surveyors is proud to support the Department for Infrastructure and Transport’s $870 million Tram Grade Separation Projects.
We’re delivering end to end surveying services across the Marion Road and Cross Road Level Crossing Removals Project (MAC), and Morphett Road Level Crossing Removals Project (MTX) sites.
Our scope included:
• Full survey management across all project zones
• Off site data management to maintain consistent, reliable information
• Laser scanning to capture detailed spatial data for design and construction
• Control network establishment, including installation, traverse and levelling for all survey control. This involved a mix of fixed prisms, reflective targets and ground control
• Overpass structure works, completing survey requirements on both the MAC and MTX bridges
• 24/7 occupations, supporting construction during critical shutdown periods
• Preservation of survey infrastructure throughout the project
• Paving support, including set out and verification
• Monitoring services to ensure safety, compliance and structural performance
A significant milestone was reached in late January, with trams resuming service along the Glenelg line in time for the start of the school year.
This combined effort of all TGSP Alliance partners highlights the value of accurate, reliable survey data in enabling safe and successful tram movements.
The Tram Grade Separation Project (TGSP) is being delivered by the Tram Grade Separation Projects Alliance (comprising of CPB Contractors, McConnell Dowell, Mott MacDonald, Arup, the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, and sub-Alliance partner, Aurecon). The Project is making journeys safer and more reliable by removing three level crossings along the Glenelg tram line at Marion Road and Cross Road, Plympton, and Morphett Road, Morphettville, and rebuilding the existing South Road tram overpass at Glandore to accommodate the River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project open motorway.
