Jason Meadors, WSC's Principal Engineer, recently visited our clients in the City of Bakersfield.
During his visit, he had the opportunity to view historic vaults with original Kern River water rights documents, some dating back to the late 1800s. Take a closer look and catch a glimpse of these remarkable records!

These historic rights continue to influence how water is managed in the region today. As WSC continues to grow, we’re excited to support communities navigating complex challenges like aging infrastructure, regulatory demands, and long-term water sustainability.

In honor of last week's Earth Day, WSC is proud to highlight our work supporting the City of Escondido’s Energy Roadmap, a citywide initiative aimed at reducing energy use. WSC is partnered with Bosch Building Technologies to provide engineering support to identify, evaluate, and design energy‑saving opportunities at the City’s water and wastewater treatment plants.

Water and wastewater treatment processes are inherently energy‑intensive, relying on pumping, aeration, treatment, and solids handling systems. Through the Energy Roadmap, WSC is helping the City assess where efficiency improvements, equipment upgrades, and operational refinements can meaningfully reduce energy consumption without compromising performance.

The project team includes Jeff Szytel, Jon Ganz, Chris Dieter, Corinne Watson, and Matthew Rodrigues with support from several internal disciplines. Together, these efforts help modernize the City's infrastructure while advancing Escondido’s sustainability and climate goals.

Our Spring Fitness Challenge brings our team outside, on the move, and cheering each other on. This moment captures Matt Rodrigues biking through Greer Ranch in Murrieta, CA and highlights how staying active can be both grounding and energizing.
We’re proud to foster a culture that values wellbeing, balance, and showing up for one another at work and beyond.

On April 13, WSC brought together BAWSCA and Valley Water member agencies for our first in-person Water Use Efficiency Roundtable Workshop in Mountain View!

This interactive series empowers agencies to navigate California’s evolving water use efficiency regulations, sparking innovation and collaboration across the region. Our team led a hands-on session to inspire people-centered solutions and creative program design.

Alongside twelve workshops, we’ve developed folders of resources, conducted surveys, and hosted office hours to support our partners every step of the way. Do you need help understanding the Conservation Way of Life or Non Functional Turf requirements? Email Sierra at [email protected], and let’s see how our team can support yours.
