It’s official: Urban has been named a “Philly Favorite 2026” by the Philadelphia Inquirer!

Rooted in Philadelphia since our start in 1960, we’ve been part of projects across the city, from major corridors to neighborhood streets, helping shape nearly every corner of the place we call home.

This recognition means a lot because it reflects the trust of the community we’ve been working alongside for over 6 decades.

As we celebrate our 65th anniversary, thank you to everyone who voted and continues to support our work across Philadelphia and beyond.

Here’s to continuing to build, improve, and invest in the city that built us.

Today marks a transformational moment for Los Angeles transit as Section 1 of the LA Metro D Line Extension officially opens, bringing fast, frequent, high-capacity subway service to three new stations at Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax, and Wilshire/La Cienega.

Andrew Royston, PE, CCM, and Kelly Pilarski, PE, LEED AP, who oversee the project for Urban, attended the opening-day celebrations and got to ride the very first train to Beverly Hills!

Urban proudly supported this iconic infrastructure project by providing program management oversight services for both LA Metro and the FTA. Our team has worked alongside project partners to provide regular project updates, monitor scope, costs, and schedules, and deliver findings and recommendations throughout the program lifecycle.

This milestone brings new connections between Union Station, Downtown LA, Westlake, Koreatown, the Miracle Mile, and eastern Beverly Hills, extending rail service west along Wilshire Boulevard for the first time in history.

Congratulations to everyone who brought this project to life!

It was a beautiful day celebrating the ribbon-cutting of the newly transformed Ardmore Train Station! 🎉

This historic station has been thoughtfully modernized to meet today’s standards while preserving its rich character, and is now fully ADA accessible. Upgrades include a new elevator, high-level platforms for easy boarding, a comfortable indoor waiting area, and a safe pedestrian tunnel beneath the tracks connecting both sides of the station.

The event brought the community together to hear from leaders and partners, including Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Secretary of Transportation, Michael Carroll; Scott Sauer, SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority); Ken Lawrence, SEPTA Board Chair; U.S. Representative Mary Gay Scanlon; State Representative Tim Briggs; State Representative Rep. Mary Jo Daley; Neil Makhija, Vice Chair, Commissioner, Montgomery County, PA; Theresa Garcia Crews, Federal Highway Administration, Region 3; Todd Sinai, Lower Merion Board of Commissioners President; Thomas Moritz, Amtrak; and Alec Hersh, Downtown Ardmore District.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this project to life.

Urban was proud to provide design services and construction administration support for the project. We’re excited to see this station serve the Ardmore community for generations to come.
