Homeless Advocacy Project HAP is a nonprofit organization providing free legal services to reduce homelessness in Philadelphia

Established in 1990, HAP is the only legal services organization dedicated to providing direct civil legal services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia. HAP also advocates for the needs of the City’s homeless population, promoting positive changes in policies that impact those needs.

HAP is very excited to welcome another new staff member Claire Grandison!!! Claire will joining HAP as our new Staff Attorney working on the Children, Youth, and Families Project. Before joining HAP, Claire worked at Berney & Sang, where she primarily handled special education cases for youth with disabilities. Claire also worked at Community Legal Services, where she represented people with disabilities in applications and appeals for Social Security benefits and successfully advocated for local and national policy reforms to increase access to benefits for youth, especially youth in foster care. Claire is excited to meet HAP’s clients and partners at legal clinics across the city to continue expanding access to HAP’s legal services.

Just when we thought we couldn’t love our caterer from last year’s benefit enough. has teamed up with and @ to participate in the city’s pay it forward program. This program allows anyone to pay for a meal for someone in need. You can even donate a meal as part of your online order!

Nina is joining HAP as our new Law Clerk, primarily focusing on the SOAR Project. Nina received their B.A. in history from Manhattan College and will receive their J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law.
