In 1943, FMC – then Food Machinery Corporation – entered agriculture with the acquisition of Niagara Sprayer & Chemical Co., a producer of insecticides and fungicides. It was the company's first step into the chemical industry, and one that would shape FMC's long-term direction.

That acquisition expanded FMC's capabilities beyond machinery and set in motion our transformation into a pure play agricultural sciences company.

At FMC, we are passionate about the power of science to solve agriculture's biggest challenges, and today we took another step forward. We announced a strategic supply and license agreement with Corteva Agriscience that will bring rimisoxafen, the industry's first dual mode of action herbicide, to more corn and soybean growers across North and South America. As our vice president and chief marketing officer Leonardo Bastos said, "This agreement ensures that more growers across the Americas will have access to rimisoxafen, one of the most innovative herbicide technologies developed in decades." Herbicide resistance is one of the most serious challenges facing growers today, and this agreement ensures more farmers have access to the innovative solutions they need to protect their productivity and the resilience of their land.

FMC recently welcomed more than 100 children of employees to our Stine Research Center in Newark, Delaware for Take Your Child to Work Day. Through interactive sessions and hands-on demonstrations, families connected directly with employees across teams, explored scientific concepts, and experienced the energy of a working research environment firsthand.

Supported by more than 60 employee volunteers, the event gave children a meaningful look at the innovation taking place at Stine and why it matters.

We are proud to create experiences that connect our people and their families while inspiring early interest in science, innovation, and collaboration.

At FMC, sustainability is not a separate initiative—it’s embedded in how we operate every day to live our purpose and create value for growers, our business and society. Because the future of our planet depends on the actions we take today.

This World Environment Day, we recognize FMC employees who are contributing to that purpose, transforming ideas into projects that deliver both environmental and business benefits.

In Panoli, India, the 4RThon initiative empowers employees to propose solutions based on the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover. In 2025, the site implemented 4RThon projects that resulted in:

20% reduction in energy intensity for two key active ingredients, resulting in reduced manufacturing overhead

10% rainwater utilization, reducing reliance on municipal sources and contributing significant cost savings.

80% renewable energy use, resulting in a293 tCO2e GHG emissions reduction and $100,000 annual cost savings.

750 MT reduction in wastewater disposal, enabling 605kL of water reuse.

This is just one example of how our sites are turning our sustainability ambitions into action and driving meaningful impact.

In 1928, a period of rapid growth marked a defining moment in FMC’s early history.

That year, stock for the newly renamed John Bean Manufacturing Company was introduced on the San Francisco Exchange. Soon after, the acquisitions of Anderson‑Barngrover Co. and Sprague‑Sells expanded the company’s capabilities and established it as the world’s largest food machinery manufacturer.

As the company’s reach continued to grow, leaders looked for a name that reflected its expanding vision. A contest was held, and the winning entry—Food Machinery Corporation—captured the scale and ambition of what the business had become.

Nearly a century later, FMC continues to build on that foundation—evolving, adapting, and advancing science‑based innovations that help support agriculture around the world.

Follow along as we share more moments from FMC’s history and the innovations that shaped who we are today.
