NOW HIRING DIESEL MECHANIC APPRENTICES
As a diesel mechanic apprentice:
You will perform standard vehicle repairs such as changing brake pads and rotors, tires, replacing vehicle fluids, and replacing batteries.
You will use checklists to determine which repairs are needed on vehicles scheduled to be serviced.
You will have the ability to learn how to repair diesel vehicles through training and hands-on tasks supervised by one of our certified diesel mechanics.
You will create written labor, time, and parts estimates for needed vehicle repairs.
You will test and inspect all work before and after the repair procedure.
You will be responsible for performing light custodial tasks to keep workshop and customer areas clean and presentable.
You will take apart diesel vehicle engines, as well as other parts of the vehicle, such as sidewall panels and floorboards. You will then repair these parts and put them back together correctly. You will be responsible for bagging and tagging all nuts and bolts belonging to each vehicle you work on.
Other Responsibilities include:
Customer service - You will frequently speak with customers to learn the nature of their vehicle problems, explain repair processes, and then refer them to the office to pay for their completed repairs.
Physical ability - candidates seeking this job must be physically able to complete tasks; In this job you will stoop, crawl, work laying down, and lift very heavy pieces of vehicle machinery.
Mechanical skills - You must have some understanding of mechanics and engines in order to complete your daily duties and learn how to successfully repair all types of vehicle problems.
Communication - This job requires the ability to listen and absorb information, as well as the ability to relate information clearly to others.
Analytical abilities - dozens of different things can go wrong on any vehicle; you must be able to isolate the problems
Candidates should be honest, reliable, dependable, self driven, and task oriented. They should also be able to give and receive information clearly.
We don't expect you to come in knowing everything there is to know about diesel mechanics and we are more than willing to train the right candidate. However, the preferred candidate should have some mechanical experience.
Starting wage is open and based on your initial experience. You will receive an evaluation after 90 days, giving you the opportunity to have your pay adjusted based on your performance and abilities.
We offer on the job training as well as the ability to apply for and receive financial aid if you wish to become certified at a corresponding technical school.
