Today is Indigenous Peoples' Day, a day to honor the Native and Indigenous people who have shaped this region for generations. Kansas takes its name from the Kaw people, and Wyandotte County carries the name of the Wyandot.

The Kaw Nation, now based in Kaw City, Oklahoma, shares Kanza history on its official website. If you want to learn more about the Kaw, start here:

What a way to wrap up another successful Field Marketing Summit.

After two days of FMS with our vendor partners last week, we headed to Dub’s Dread Golf Club for our Customer Golf Tournament. We couldn't have asked for a better day to be outside with everyone.

A big thank you to everyone who played and to all of our sponsors who helped make the tournament happen. A special shoutout to our Title Sponsor, Victaulic, for their support.

And thank you to everyone who joined us for FMS, from happy hour at Tap-In’s to a full day at the MKS office and dinner at Char Bar. We appreciate everyone who took the time to be there.

We had a great time putting this together, and we're looking forward to doing it again.

Our Fourth of July pride starts in the shop, not in the sky.

It’s the flag on the wall in the warehouse.
It’s the trucks that leave before sunrise.
It’s the people who show up day after day and take pride in their work.

MKS has been a locally rooted, hard‑working American business for 80 years.
We’ve grown, but we haven’t outgrown the basics: show up, do the job right, and take care of your people.

Here’s to the contractors, plant crews, and small businesses that still work that way.

Wishing you a safe Fourth of July weekend from the MKS team.

Hard work, sacrifice, and pride in something bigger than yourself are values we see every day in our industry and values we remember this Memorial Day.

Today we honor the fallen heroes who gave everything for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Most maintenance teams we talk to say the same things.

✅ The to‑do list never shrinks
✅ The inbox never empties
❌ And planning for “what happens when a line fails at 9:30 pm” stays on the someday list

From recent plant walk‑throughs, the same themes keep coming up:

- Unplanned downtime is expensive in real hours, scrap, and rework
- The worst minutes are when a critical system is down and the usual supplier isn’t answering
- A bit of planning around stocking and response makes those nights a lot less stressful

That’s exactly what our plant visits are for: We walk the facility with you, map the high‑risk spots, and make sure the right parts are close at hand in Kansas City or Omaha.

If you’ve been meaning to get ahead of the next outage, let's get something on the calendar.

When a 10-inch PVC pipe shattered at Reser’s Fine Foods’ Topeka facility at 9:30 PM, the plant faced an immediate shutdown and significant city fines for wastewater bypass.

Then their Maintenance Manager remembered a conversation he’d had a week earlier with Kyle Smiddy, one of our outside sales reps at MKS Pipe & Valve. “Kyle told me, ‘Let me know if you need anything. It doesn’t matter, day or night.’ I kind of chuckled, but he was serious.” He decided to test it.

Kyle answered

Despite the hour, Kyle drove to the shop, confirmed our local stock of Schedule 80 pipe and fittings, and personally drove the needed parts from Kansas City to help complete the repair that same night.

If your plant can’t afford “we’ll see you in the morning,” it might be time for a reliability partner, not just another supplier.
