Earlier this month, Morgan County Bridge No. 29 on Mahalasville Road over Indiana Trace Creek reopened, giving residents, school buses, and first responders a safe, dependable crossing for years to come.

This project reflects Morgan County’s strong commitment to its infrastructure. Many of the county’s rural routes depend on bridges like No. 29, and the Commissioners and Highway Department deserve recognition for their leadership in keeping them safe and reliable.

United was honored to serve as both design engineer and construction inspector, seeing the project through from start to finish. Thank you to Morgan County for the partnership, and congratulations to everyone who helped bring this crossing back into service!

That's a wrap on our annual 2026 Movement Challenge!

For 39 days, from September 8 to October 16, our team laced up and got moving, and the results speak for themselves:

🚶59 participants
🚶‍♀️21,203,635 total steps
🚶‍♂️Roughly 10,000 miles walked—about the distance from here to Tokyo and back!

Participants could aim for an average of 4,000, 8,000, or 12,000 steps per day, and 53 of our 59 participants hit one of those goals. A special shoutout to the 14 team members who averaged more than 12,000 steps per day, and to our top finisher, who logged over 1 million steps on their own!

What we love most about this tradition isn't just the numbers. It's the lunchtime walks, the friendly competition, and the encouragement that comes from building healthy habits together.

A huge thank you to our Health and Fitness Committee for organizing, and to everyone who took part. We're already looking forward to next year!

Progress continues on the Raceway Road and CR 100 N roundabout in Avon, Indiana! 🚧

Crews are installing curb and gutter as the new roundabout takes shape. The project remains on track to open by the end of October, bringing improved traffic flow and a safer, more efficient intersection for the community.

We’re excited to see this project come together!

United was proud to connect with Indiana’s water and wastewater professionals at the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water (AIRW) Conference, held October 13–15.

Vince, Scott, Matt, and Dann welcomed attendees at the United booth, where conversations focused on the people, practical knowledge, and collaboration that keep rural water systems moving forward.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by. We appreciated the opportunity to learn, share ideas, and support a conference built around education, networking, and hands-on learning.

United was glad to attend the 2026 Delaware County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner on October 13 at the Cornerstone Center for the Arts in Muncie. Celebrating America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, the evening brought together community leaders, public officials, and regional partners for an opportunity to connect and share ideas.

Our table included representatives from ECI Regional Planning District, Delaware County Council, the local legal community, and Muncie Innovation Connector, among others. The evening also featured remarks from Congresswoman Victoria Spartz and Commissioner Stephen Brand, special guest speaker Max Engling, and entertainment from comedian Brad Stine and America’s Hometown Band.

We appreciate opportunities like this to build relationships across the region and connect with the people helping shape our communities’ future.

Here's a sneak peek at the north section of the new Monon Trail underpass.

The contractor has installed the Gravix wall system from the existing 161st Street bridge to the north project limits and is now grading the area for the new asphalt trail path.

Once complete, the project will provide trail users with a safe crossing beneath 161st Street. 🏃‍♀️

United’s Marc McNeece recently joined Vanderburgh County Commissioner Amy Canterbury and Spencer County Commissioner Jim Sieler for a golf outing.

It was a great opportunity to spend some time together, enjoy a beautiful day on the course, and continue building relationships with leaders in the communities United serves.

Fall Career Fair Season is officially underway!

Yesterday, our Talent Manager, Jill Wallsmith, and Design Engineer Tyrell Cockcroft, a proud Rose-Hulman alumnus, spent the day at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s Fall Career Fair searching for the next generation of civil engineers.

Tyrell had a great time reconnecting with old alumni, fraternity brothers, professors, new students, and even some past interns. It was a full-circle kind of day—and a busy one!

Jill and Tyrell made some great connections and represented our team well. Needless to say, after a full day of meeting students and walking the career fair floor, their feet were definitely ready for a break!

We’re excited about the talented students we met and look forward to continuing to build relationships with the next generation of engineers!

⛳️ Another United Cup is in the books!

We had a beautiful September day for golf at River Glen Country Club—and plenty of opportunities to get a few extra steps in for the United Steps Challenge! 👟

A big thanks to everyone who joined us and rolled with the cart-path-only rules. After the rain the night before and the historic flooding the course experienced in August, we appreciate everyone helping us take care of the course while still having a great afternoon together.

Congratulations to our 2026 United Cup champions, Andy Allison and Scott Minnich! 🏆 And congratulations to our prize hole winners, Caleb Ross and Reid McIntire!

From the scramble to alternating shot to solo best ball, the United Cup gave everyone a chance to compete, laugh, and enjoy some time together outside the office.

Thanks to everyone who made the day a great one!
