May 31 is Dam Safety Awareness Day, a time to highlight the importance of safety around our waterways, including low-head dams. 💦

Low-head dams may look small or calm, but they span entire rivers and can create powerful recirculating currents that pose serious safety risks, trapping swimmers and boaters. They can also disrupt natural river systems and limit aquatic life movement.

We're excited to see CRWD advancing flood reduction efforts in the Dobbins Creek headwaters. These projects play a key role in reducing peak flows and improving water quality across the watershed.

HEI is proud to support the CRWD in meeting its 20% reduction goal. We’ve been involved in two berm projects already, with another upcoming this year to deliver practical solutions that strengthen watershed resilience.

We’re proud to join the American Public Works Association in celebrating National Public Works Week, May 17–23!
