MDI Communications has been supporting the deployment of the data and security infrastructure alongside Matrix NDI. Projects like this take a lot of coordination and skilled people working together, and it’s been a solid partnership throughout.

MDI is proud to be involved in Applied Digital’s new data center project in Ellendale, North Dakota.

July 2025 Polaris Forge 1 (Previously ELN02) Update-
Progress continues at one of the nation’s largest purpose-built AI campuses in Ellendale, North Dakota. Polaris Forge is shaping up to become a benchmark for high-density, AI-optimized infrastructure.

Building 1 (100 MW Critical IT Load):
🔹 Commissioning progressing right on schedule.
🔹 Phase 1 substantial completion reached! Congrats McGough Construction!
🔹 Back up power generation building busy being populated with more generators every week!

Building 2 (150 MW Critical IT Load) is now underway:
🏗️ footings/foundations/site work all continue to march on as our first section of precast er****on progresses towards its first milestone.

MDI Communications has proudly participated in a comprehensive design-to-build project for Pluto’s Smoke Shop in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This project involved not only installing extensive voice, video, and data cabling but also integrating a 60+ camera security system with card access control. Our work included setting up a multi-zone sound system and dynamic digital displays designed to provide both visual stimulation and interactive touchscreen capabilities for exploring available products.
A standout feature is the large 360-degree display that offers immersive visual entertainment, seamlessly integrated with the sound system to create timed and themed experiences. Additionally, we developed fun custom integrations to enhance the store's theme, such as an alarm system that broadcasts a distinctive "intruder alert" klaxon over the sound system during unauthorized entry event.
Throughout the 16 months of renovation and construction, changes and upgrades required several revisions. Partnering with Meridian Commercial Construction has been a fantastic experience, and we extend our gratitude to Pluto’s Smoke Shop for the opportunity to bring their vision to life and to Magnum Electric for their assistance with the electrical challenges we encountered. Finishing up the installation of several Growlink environmental panels for a local greenhouse These cutting-edge systems will revolutionize the growing environment by providing precise control over climate, irrigation, and lighting.

Growlink is an advanced environmental control system for agriculture, integrating controllers, sensors, and software. It automates and optimizes climate, irrigation, and lighting based on real-time data. Growers can monitor and control their environment remotely, improving plant health and resource efficiency.
