This afternoon, Mayor Lynch, Administrator Laverty, and family members representing former Mayor and Councilmember Cy Wekilsky had the honor of attending the Lifetime Service Award Luncheon hosted by Morris County Surrogate Heather Darling.

It was a privilege to celebrate Cy’s many years of dedicated service to the residents of Boonton. We are grateful to Surrogate Darling for recognizing Cy’s more than 50 years of commitment and service to our community.

Pictured are Mayor Lynch and Cy’s grandsons accepting the award and proclamation posthumously on his behalf.

Thank you, Cy, for more than 50 years of honorable service and dedication to the Town of Boonton. Your contributions will never be forgotten.

Morris County is joining counties throughout the nation in Operation Green Light for Veterans, from Nov. 4 through Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

Through Thursday, Nov. 12, eight county sites will be lit green in recognition of the men and women who have served:

• Veterans Services Office, 540 W. Hanover Ave., Morris Township
• Law & Public Safety Complex, 500 W. Hanover Ave., Parsippany-Troy Hills
• Historic Morris County Courthouse, 56 Washington St., Morristown
• Morris County Administration & Records Building, under "the bridge" at 10 Court St., Morristown
• Office of Temporary Assistance, 340 W. Hanover Ave., Morris Township
• Morris County Library, 30 E. Hanover Ave., Whippany
• Human Services Complex, 1 Medical Drive, Morris Plains
• Morris County 9/11 Memorial, 460 W. Hanover Ave., Parsippany-Troy Hills

Residents, businesses and organizations are invited to take part by replacing an outdoor or entryway bulb with a green one.

Over the next week, we will highlight the county services available to veterans and their families.
