Bonkers in Barcelona – Update

Last month, one of our Architects - Francisco Munoz - joined a team from Ellipta Surveyors for an intrepid journey from Folkestone to Barcelona as part of the Martha Trust’s 2026 car challenge – Bonkers in Barcelona!

The challenge? To make the journey in a car bought for under £500! Taking inspiration from the theme “Top Gear on a Budget – Barcelona in a Very Unreasonably Priced Car!”, the Ellipta team named their trusty vehicle ‘Barcelona Bella’.

The team and their supporters (including ourselves, of course!) raised just over £12,000 for Martha Trust, which is a fantastic achievement.

The total raised across the whole event is yet to be announced, but the team leader summed it up perfectly:

“Whatever the final outcome, the event has helped raise the profile of the Martha Trust and raised a significant sum of money in support of those who really do need our help.”

A huge well done to everyone involved in this brilliant challenge, and thank you to everyone who supported such a worthwhile cause.

Hallstile Bank – Chimney Collapse Update

We're pleased to report that works are currently ahead of schedule, with the road targeted to reopen next month.

We thought the before-and-after photo comparison was also worth sharing, showing the (external) progress made so far.

Bonkers in Barcelona!

On 19th September 2026, our very own Architect, Francisco Munoz, is joining a team from Ellipta Surveyors, intrepidly setting off from Folkestone for Barcelona, in a car bought for under £500 (eek!) in the Martha Trust 2026 car challenge – Bonkers in Barcelona!

Yesterday we held another fundraising lunch in further support of the Martha Trust - who provide inclusive lifetime care for adults with profound physical and multiple learning disabilities.

‘Cooling House’ – the original name of this charming small barn (store) in Northumberland.

It’s great to see the project progressing, along with the lovely view that will be enjoyed once the works are complete.

Another positive update for Hallstile Bank Chimney Collapse:

The chimney stack has been safely removed with the majority of safety concerns alleviated.

Scaffold is being erected this week, with the roof structure and covering being formed next week for weather protection, along with internal strip out.

In the meantime, the roof structure is being designed for the soonest commencement.

We're delighted to see work underway on this small barn refurbishment and conversion project in Northumberland.

This project will breathe new life into a traditional rural building, carefully preserving its character while creating a high-quality space fit for modern use and making the most of the spectacular view.

We look forward to sharing progress as the transformation continues.

Hallstile Bank Chimney collapse update - we are pleased to announce that works are due to commence on 27th July.

It is also hoped that the pedestrian route will remain open throughout the works.

Time for a displays update!

The stairs have had their summer refresh, bringing a bright seasonal feel. Currently, we also have flags in the office in aid of the World Cup, along with a wall chart keeping us updated for our sweepstake!

It's amazing how a few simple touches can brighten the workplace and create a welcoming environment for both our team and visitors.

It's Re-Wind Wednesday!

This is from along the Northumberland coast and another project we were delighted to be involved with from inception through to completion.

The brief was to transform a dated property through a high-specification refurbishment, creating a fresh, contemporary home with a distinct coastal feel.

As part of the specification, a bespoke flood-defence door was incorporated to help protect the property and enhance its resilience for the future.

It's always rewarding to see a project evolve from the initial concept through to the finished result.
