An early Christmas celebration for the Fluid Power crew this year, but what a fantastic time we had! 🥳

We want to take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank you to all our hardworking staff for everything you have contributed throughout the year. Your dedication, effort and commitment never go unnoticed, and we truly appreciate every one of you. It’s the people behind the business who make it what it is! 💪

It’s been another big year for Fluid Power, with plenty of hard work, challenges, laughs and achievements along the way. It was great to take a step back, get everyone together and enjoy some well-deserved time away from the tools and the day-to-day grind.

A massive shout-out to Litchfield Outback Resort for hosting us this year! 🙌 The food was amazing, the accommodation was perfect, and the staff were absolutely fantastic – so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate. Highly recommend!

Thanks again to our amazing team for another great year. We look forward to what the new year brings and can’t wait to see what we achieve together in 2027!

Expression Of Interest: Workshop Supervisor – Darwin

Start date: 5 January 2027

About the role

Fluid Power AU is seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead our skilled workshop team in Darwin.

You’ll oversee day-to-day workshop operations and help deliver quality service to clients across mining, oil and gas, defence, marine and shipping, and power generation. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys supporting tradespeople, developing apprentices and keeping projects running safely and efficiently.

What you’ll do

Supervise and support a small team of tradespeople and apprentices.
Plan, prioritise and allocate work to meet project schedules and quality expectations.
Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to the team.
Maintain high standards of safety, quality and productivity across the workshop.
Liaise with clients to understand their requirements and provide project updates.
Work with engineering staff to meet project-specific requirements.
Prepare reports, quotes, estimates and project quality documentation.
Provide practical, task-based training to apprentices.
Ensure workshop activities meet relevant industry standards and company requirements.
Identify opportunities to improve workshop processes and services.
What we’re looking for

Extensive experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Machinist, with a strong understanding of workshop operations.
Hydraulic systems experience is desirable.
Demonstrated ability to lead, support and motivate tradespeople and apprentices.
A practical, solutions-focused approach to solving problems.
Strong customer service skills and an interest in building lasting client relationships.
A commitment to quality, workplace health and safety, and attention to detail.
Good organisation and time management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities.
A genuine interest in mentoring and developing others.
Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office.
Clear and concise technical report-writing skills.
Welding and fabrication experience is desirable.
Australian work rights are required.

Parts Specialist – FIFO

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Parts Specialist to join our team.

This is a FIFO position from either Darwin or Cairns, with a preferred 4 days on, 3 days off roster. A 7 days on, 7 days off roster may also be considered for the right candidate.

About the Role:
The successful candidate will support the efficient management of parts and inventory while working within a busy site environment. This position requires someone who is organised, reliable and comfortable working independently when required.

Key responsibilities will include:
• Receiving, checking and storing parts and materials
• Picking and issuing parts for site operations
• Maintaining accurate inventory and stock records
• Completing stocktakes and assisting with inventory control
• Entering and updating information in computer systems
• Communicating with site personnel, suppliers and other departments
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised work area

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• A current forklift licence and manual driver licence
• Good computer and data-entry skills
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• A proactive attitude and the ability to show initiative
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Previous experience using SAP or a similar inventory or ERP system is desirable but not essential
• Previous experience in parts, warehousing, stores or inventory management is highly regarded

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy Diesel Fitter for an immediate start in a FIFO position.

FIFO is available from Darwin or Cairns, working a balanced 7 days on, 7 days off roster in a heavy mobile workshop.

The ideal candidate will have:

- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety

- A recognised Heavy Diesel Fitter trade qualification

- Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile equipment

- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

- A current driver’s licence

- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Recently, FPAU was approached by a new customer with an urgent breakdown on their Bosich 285-tonne float.

In classic Fluid Power AU fashion, we accepted the challenge and got straight to work.

The repair involved installing a new window, fabricating and installing beefed-up gussets, and repairing the cylinder extension port. With the work completed efficiently, we were able to get the machine back into service and working for the customer with minimal downtime.

A big shout-out to the team at JMG Metco for stepping up to the plate and helping us get this one across the line. It’s always great working alongside businesses that understand the importance of pulling together when the pressure is on.

Another great example of what can be achieved with quick thinking, quality workmanship and strong collaboration — getting critical equipment back to work when it matters.
