The Vatten Wetland Bank project restored about 80 acres of wetland and 40 acres of native grassland in Wright County, Minnesota by rebuilding the site’s hydrology and reestablishing native plant communities. Using topographic survey and detailed hydrologic modeling, Moore Engineering designed solutions like tile breaks, ditch blocks, a sheet pile weir, and a stabilized outlet structure, all while protecting drainage for adjacent farmland.

The result is a working wetland and prairie system that improves water quality, provides flood storage, and creates habitat, plus marketable wetland mitigation credits for the landowner.

Matt, a Project Manager at Moore Engineering, is officially a graduate of the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class of 2026.

Over the past 10 months, Matt learned alongside leaders from across the region, exploring leadership, collaboration and what makes the Fargo‑Moorhead‑West Fargo community work.

As part of the program’s Community Change Initiative, Matt and his cohort took on a project focused on empowering individuals transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing. Their goal was simple but meaningful. Create a welcoming space for conversation, mentorship and confidence‑building, while helping remove barriers like childcare and access to resources. The result was a community event that brought people together and showed what’s possible when people work together with purpose.

Reflecting on the experience, Matt shared, “Leadership FMWF helped me grow as a leader and strengthened my communication, organization and confidence in my everyday work.”

Congratulations, Matt! We’re grateful for the leadership you bring to Moore and for your commitment to the communities we serve.

On Saturday, the City of Fergus Falls honored Chris Tungseth, the first Minnesotan to reach the semifinals of American Idol, with a full day of events including a parade, a concert, and an official proclamation declaring May 16 in his honor. Moore Engineering serves as the City Engineer for Fergus Falls, and it was great to be part of a community celebration like this alongside residents, partners, and local supporters.

Throughout the day, our videographer Cody Rogness was on site following Chris and documenting the celebration as it unfolded. From start to finish, Cody captured the energy and special moments throughout the day. We can't wait to see what he puts together. Stay tuned!!

We’re excited to announce that our Ashley Water Supply, Treatment, and Storage Improvements project received a 2026 Engineering Excellence Award from ACEC ND! 🏆

This project helped the City of Ashley address aging infrastructure, improve long-term reliability, and plan for the future with a new elevated water storage tower and a sustainable water solution.

Fun fact: our marketing team assisted the City of Ashley with developing a new logo concept featured on the water tower, adding a unique, community-focused touch to the project. It was fun to see the positive response from the community!

Exciting growth across the Vistal enterprise. We’re excited to welcome William H. Smith & Associates, Inc. and Farr Technologies (now Communication Network Engineering, Inc. - CNE) to the company.

We look forward to working together to share expertise, strengthen our capabilities, and create new opportunities for our clients.

Vistal is growing! We recently acquired two companies, William H. Smith & Associates, Inc. (WHS) and FARR Technologies, expanding our capabilities, geographic reach, and the services we provide across our enterprise.

WHS is a civil engineering, planning, and survey firm specializing in oil and gas, transportation, material testing, and other energy services. They will retain their name and brand while joining Vistal alongside Moore Engineering and CNE.

FARR Technologies delivers fiber and wireless broadband engineering and technology services across the northern United States, from Oregon to New York, and will be integrated into the CNE brand to strengthen capacity and expand expertise.

“WHS and FARR Technologies are a natural fit in Vistal’s employee-owned culture,” said Vistal CEO Shane Waslaski. “They share our focus on client success and employee growth, while expanding our geographic reach and broadening the services we provide.”

Together, these additions strengthen our enterprise and support long-term growth for our people, our clients, and the future of Vistal.
