BREED SPOTLIGHT: RHODE ISLAND RED — This best-selling breed is the quintessential American chicken, perfect for any flock, from backyard family flocks to free-ranging homesteads. Did you know that McMurray Hatchery breeds and raises over 110 varieties of rare, Heritage, and production standard and bantam chicken breeds?

Many of our rare and Heritage lines date back to the early 1900s, and quite a few can be found on The Livestock Conservancy’s Conservation Priority List.

Our small and experienced team takes great pride in breeding our historic lines while preserving the McMurray Hatchery legacy, which began over a century ago.

As you select breeds to add to your flock, we thank you for supporting our family hatchery and helping support our efforts to continue these vitally important lines for generations to come.
