On a congested downtown jobsite, limited space makes constructability a critical part of the design equation.

That was the case at the George R. Brown Convention Center expansion in Houston, where NWPX Park supplied five precast GreaseTrooper® Gravity Grease Interceptors ranging from 1,000 to 8,000 gallons.

With active demolition adjacent to the jobsite and little room for cast in place construction, modular precast systems provided a practical solution. Pre-assembled internal piping and ready-to-install components minimized field assembly, allowing crews to efficiently place and connect each interceptor while helping keep installation on schedule.

An arid climate doesn’t mean stormwater is a minor design consideration. Intense, sudden storms can generate significant runoff across dry ground in a short period of time, making effective drainage systems critical to protecting built infrastructure and public safety.

This truckload of precast concrete headwalls is headed to Arizona, where the structures will be installed at drainage pipe and culvert inlets and outlets. At these transition points, headwalls help direct flow, stabilize surrounding soil, reduce erosion and scour, and protect surrounding drainage infrastructure as water enters or exits the system.

Built for long-term durability, NWPX precast concrete headwalls can be configured around project-specific pipe sizes, site conditions, and hydraulic requirements, with options including wing walls, toe walls, energy dissipators, screens, gates, valves, and stop logs.

Common applications include:
✓ Culverts and drainage ditches
✓ Roadside drainage
✓ Watercourses and stream banks
✓ Detention and retention ponds
✓ Erosion control
✓ Bridge approaches
✓ Airports
✓ Construction sites
✓ Landscaped areas

Heavy equipment cleaning can generates wash water loaded with sand, grit, oil, and other contaminants. At this phosphate mining and manufacturing facility in Soda Springs, Idaho, a multi-stage treatment system helps clean and recirculate that water.

NWPX Park supplied five packaged wastewater systems for the Caldwell Canyon project, including a 5,000-gallon Sand-Mud Interceptor, two Oil-Water Separators, and two Pump Lift Stations. Together, four of the units form the treatment train for the facility’s wash bay reclaim system—removing sand and grit, separating oil, and recirculating water for reuse.

The precast structures were manufactured at our Utah facilities, outfitted with NWPX Park mechanical components, shop tested, and delivered to the jobsite ready for connection.
