On Tuesday, May 5th, GFA joined project partners and community representatives to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new TCAPS Fieldhouse. The new 120,000 square foot fieldhouse will include a full indoor MHSAA regulation turf field and track, along with additional sports facilities. We are thrilled to be a part of this fantastic addition to our community that will provide year-round opportunities for students. ⚽🏈🥍⚾

The Harrison City Park received a major upgrade just in time for the 2026 Harrison Little League season! ⚾🥎

This Council of Michigan Foundations grant funded project included new accessible parking areas, concrete pathways to provide accessible connectivity throughout the fields, park amenities by Play Environments Design, and a centralized gathering space with a new Huffcutt Concrete concession building and restrooms. GFA provided full engineering, surveying and construction services for this fantastic addition to the City.

These improvements are sure to be well used with a busy Little League season on the horizon!

John is a graduate of Michigan State University and joins GFA after relocated to Traverse City from Chicago with his wife. Prior to beginning his engineering career, John was an Officer in the United States Navy.

Congratulations and Happy Retirement to Marty Alley after nearly 30 years at GFA!

Marty has been an integral part of the GFA Team, beginning his time at GFA as a Construction Technician and moving up to oversee operations of the Construction Services Department for the last decade. To celebrate Marty, an open house will be held at the new GFA office this Thursday from 3-6 PM. We welcome all those to have had the pleasure of working with Marty over the last 3 decades to stop by and celebrate.

Drew recently graduated from Michigan State University with his B.S. in Civil Engineering and now joins GFA's Engineering Department. Drew has spent the last few summers gaining experience on transportation construction projects performing both inspection and testing, and aims to continue his growth in the construction engineering field at GFA. Originally from Bay City, Michigan, you can find him watching or playing sports in his free time.

Installation of the new snowmobile bridge over Bear Creek on Snowmobile Trail LP3 in Manistee County is nearly complete! 🌉🏗️

The creek crossing has been closed for years, since the removal of the old railroad bridge. The new 14' wide by 80' long prefabricated bridge from Cadillac Fabrication will create a direct route on Trail LP3 from Copemish to Kaleva in Manistee County. The project, being completed by AJ's Excavating LLC, will be completed and open to snowmobile traffic in the next week!

GFA worked alongside Networks Northwest and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to make this EDA grant funded project come to fruition.

⚠️Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report⚠️

Friday, November 21st was a monumental day for the Grand Traverse Conservation District's Ottaway Crossing Project, as crews from Molon and McNally-Nimergood Crane Rentals set the 160-foot long x 14-foot wide pedestrian bridge from Bridge Brothers. 🚧🏗️

The bridge, located at the site of the old Sabin Dam that was removed in 2018, creates a 41 mile loop of local trails. Crews from Molon will push to put the finishing touches on the project before winter sets in the coming weeks, including the connector trails on each side of the river. This bridge set marks a major milestone for this project that GFA began work on back in 2022.
