Join Sarah of SB Jewelry for a metalworking workshop where you’ll learn real smithing techniques and walk away with a finished piece you made yourself. No experience necessary; just curiosity and a willingness to get your hands a little dirty.

Choose Your Project — or Do Both!

Copper Stacker Rings (Plain + Textured) — $20
Learn to size, shape, texture, and finish two wearable copper stacker rings you’ll be proud to stack.
You will use a jeweler’s saw to cut wire, hammer on textures, solder using a butane or propane torch, and file and shape your ring. Rings can be antiqued and given a brushed finish or wait an additional 15 minutes to get a polished piece.

Forged & Twisted Copper Cuff — $20

Hammer, forge, and twist copper into a one-of-a-kind cuff with character. We’ll be working with heavy gauge copper wire, hammers, files, steel blocks and a propane torch to anneal your copper.

Or make both for $40!

In both projects, you’ll work with real metalsmithing techniques: texturing, annealing, patina finishing, and shaping. All materials and tools are included. If interested in completing both projects sign up for two consecutive sessions.

Long hair needs to be tied back or you will not be able to use the torch

It's a great weekend to visit STEAM!

Friday, May 1st from 5-8 pm we have our monthly First Friday event: Fantasies and Fairytales! We will have a green screen with various fun fantasy screens and costuming choices, a potion bottle making station, tours, demos, refreshments, a kids' movie and more! This free event is open to the public! No registration necessary.

Saturday, May 2nd at 10am and 1pm we have Intro to Jewelry Making: Copper Metal Piercing with Sarah of SB Jewelry. Cost is $55.

Monday, May 4th we have So, You Want to Write a Novel with Dr Brian Johnson. This is a 5 session course that will meet over 7 weeks, May 4th to June 15th, skipping 5/25 and 6/8. Cost is $75.

You've asked for it and it's here! Join Ana for a 4 Week Pottery Journey beginning Sunday, May 31st.
This beginner pottery wheel class meets once a week over 5 weeks, May 31st to June 28th, skipping Father's Day, June 21st. Each class will be 2 hours long and introduces students to the basic techniques of wheel throwing including: centering and opening the clay, raising the walls of the clay, creating basic shapes like cylinders and bowls, trimming away excess clay, and decorating items with underglaze colors.
This class also covers the basics of pottery studio practices like: how firing works and how to create safe and functional workspace. Students will create and decorate a handful of pieces that will be kiln fired twice and ready for pickup 2-4 weeks after the last class. Each participant will receive 5 lbs of clay and will keep what they make with those 5 lbs (approx 3 to 5 pieces). Materials (clay, underglaze colors, and clear glaze) and 2 firings (bisque and glaze) are included in the class fee. We will be working with white porcelain clay and food friendly colors and glaze.
Small class size (3 students) ensures that everyone gets the guidance they need. PLEASE TRIM NAILS SHORT as you will be unable to properly throw pots with long nails. Pull long hair back, and wear clothes that you're okay with getting muddy!
