Earlier this month, two of our team members joined APWA - Silicon Valley Chapter for a field walking tour of the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project at Shoreline in Mountain View.

The Pond A2W and A1 work is part of one of the largest tidal marsh restoration efforts in the country, with over 400 acres of restored marsh, five habitat islands, and a raised segment of the Bay Trail. It also ties into the City of Mountain View’s Sea Level Rise CIP, combining nature-based flood protection with buried riprap to protect the closed landfill beneath Shoreline Park.

Seeing habitat restoration, shoreline resilience, and public access designed as one system was a valuable look at where Bay Area infrastructure is heading. Thanks to APWA SV for organizing!

On Friday, the F&L team attended One Treasure Island's 2026 Gala, Illuminating Possibilities. F&L has been honored to sponsor the gala since 2018.

For over 30 years, One Treasure Island has provided pathways to economic stability for lower-income San Franciscans, including those who have experienced homelessness. This year’s program highlighted graduates of its Construction Training Program, who are now building careers in the trades.

F&L is proud to continue contributing to the redevelopment of Treasure Island and to support the organization’s work on the island.

This week, Eric Biland, P.E., Ioana Taropa, and Tess King represented F&L at the Fall 2026 Networking Event hosted by ASCE at San Jose State University. With more than 200 students registered, it was the chapter’s largest turnout yet.

The team spent the morning talking with students about civil engineering careers, internships, and what day-to-day work looks like at F&L. Thank you to the ASCE networking team for organizing such a fun event!

On Monday, a few members of our team represented F&L at the Bay Area Water Works Association's annual Garry Lee Memorial Golf Tournament at Rancho Solano Golf Course in Fairfield. It was a great day on a challenging course, made better by sharing the round with one of our valued clients.

Last week, a few members of the F&L team joined public works leaders, engineers, and students for the annual Joint Professional Networking Event, co-hosted by APWA - Silicon Valley Chapter, ASCE San Jose Branch, South Bay Transportation Officials Association, and SBEC South Bay Engineers Club.

The team spent the evening catching up with agency partners and fellow engineers under the redwoods. Thank you to the organizers and sponsors for another great event and for bringing everyone together!

Coastside County Water District (CCWD) celebrated the completion of the Carter Hill Prestressed Concrete Tank and Seismic Upgrades Project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Half Moon Bay last week.

The project replaced two aging water storage tanks with a single 2.1-million-gallon prestressed concrete tank featuring a free-spanning concrete dome and seismic upgrades built to modern standards. F&L provided Construction Management services, working alongside CCWD, HDR, and DN Tanks to deliver the project on a constrained hillside site.

The result is a low-maintenance, seismically resilient facility that will serve the Half Moon Bay community for decades. Proud to have been part of it

APWA - Silicon Valley Chapter's Bay Bridge Tour, a Young Professionals Event, took engineers across the SF-Oakland Bay Bridge's skyway and suspension spans last Friday. Two engineers from F&L's Cupertino office joined the group, guided by Caltrans senior bridge engineers, for an inside look at the structure most people only see from a car window. The tour included climbing vertical ladder rungs and required full PPE, offering a rare hands-on view of the bridge's structure.
