AN OCEANFRONT HOUSE IN NORTH BEACH HAVEN, NJ, AS SEEN FROM 20TH STREET.

The limited buildable area on the site, impacted by the dune formed by/after Hurricane Sandy, necessitated a vertical solution for the house with only the elevator shaft and building columns allowed to touch the ground.

Entering at a recreation room above the base flood elevation, with two bedrooms above the parking area, one ascends to the living spaces which are elevated to allow views to the beach, with an upper level of the primary bedroom suite and two additional bedrooms behind.

A spiral stair connects decks at living area, primary bedroom, and roof deck with recessed hot tub (behind the upper central window). The central window at the primary stair and elevator celebrates the vertical movement through the house and a visual connection with the ocean.
