For most of our students, summer break begins this weekend! High school and college commencement ceremonies are treasured memories by now. But it's always a good time to honor the privileges that education brings and the inspiration that comes from lifelong learning.

Our feature is from 2023 when we worked with Hodges & Hicks General Contractors on their Trinity School (Atlanta) project to fabricate and install a 60LF custom walkway canopy with Berridge Manufacturing Company Tee Panel standing seam roofing.

The e-Vac Magnetics Manufacturing Plant project in Sumter, South Carolina, presented Jesse Rose, PCG Project Manager, with several unique challenges. Working with Evans General Contractors and LS3P ASSOCIATES LTD. , this project brought a contemporary new office addition to life with sleek aluminum composite panels integrated throughout the building façade and storefront glass sections. While the design achieved the architect’s vision, it also delivered the performance needed for effective water management.

Our on-site crew also installed roll-formed canopies and fabricated a custom galvanized steel oxipit enclosure with a rolling top for safe, accessible chemical canister storage. The finished result combines modern aesthetics, functionality, and long-term durability.

Sometimes you have to look twice at a picture to fully appreciate what you're seeing. Back in 2006, our project management team and installation crews were tasked with removing and replacing over 200,000 square feet of standing seam roofing and insulation at the Johns Manville facility in Winder, Georgia. What's even more remarkable is that the plant remained operational for the entire 8 month duration of the project with zero lost time.

In 2019, General Contractor JE Dunn Construction and PCG collaborated on a project for the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) Administrative Support Building. The custom details make this project a standout feature on this building while offering a welcoming design and some protection for staff and team members.

While Augusta, Georgia, is best known for hosting the Masters golf tournament each spring at the Augusta National Golf Club, it is also recognized as the birthplace of music legend James Brown. It's also the place where Jesse Rose, PCG Project Manager, had the privilege of collaborating with Evans General Contractors and Gulf States Architects on the Aurubis project.

What was so special about this project with extruded wall-hung canopies, including both rod-supported and unsupported configurations?

For our expert team, the canopy installations were straightforward; however, the building also featured an internal gutter system that wrapped around the entry façade to support a clean, modern architectural appearance. Because internal gutter systems can be especially vulnerable to water intrusion, careful ex*****on was critical. Our installation team followed the design specifications while also strengthening the system with a redundant waterproofing approach. This included the use of an elastomeric coating that accommodates thermal expansion and contraction, helping reduce the risk of gaps, cracking, and water infiltration over time.

When is some drama a good thing?

Back in 2013, ARCO Design/Build partnered with us to create a dramatic entrance for Mando Manufacturing's Hogansville, Georgia, location. The project's scope included a curved Berridge Manufacturing Company tee panel standing seam roofing, along with a flush panel fascia and soffit panel.

How do you overcome the challenge of a long-span design, requiring a 15’ projection from the building and a 30’ span between columns? Here's the short version...

PCG custom-designed a fully engineered system, including a welded splice joint of the main front 6x10 aluminum tube beam to accommodate the span and overall width of 38’. This beam was the base of a fully welded front truss that was transported to the jobsite on a 40’ flatbed trailer and hoisted into place on top of the 8x8 columns.

Once the front truss was set, the 6x10 purlins were mounted into pre-coordinated wall support and cleanly attached to the front truss. These purlins provided the final support for the standing-seam metal roofing, which serves as the waterproof layer of the canopy system.

Working with Brasfield & Gorrie as the general contractor and Vickers Design Group as the architect, PCG completed this custom canopy for ATLAS Ministry, Inc. in Greensboro, Georgia, in July 2025. The project shows PCG’s strength in custom fabrication, structural coordination, and clean installation.
