Say Hello to Guernsey’s 2026 Interns! 👋

You’re looking at the group slated to support our engineering, architecture, interiors, and electric utility teams this summer.

Just being a fly on the wall during their first day, you get this sense of excitement, curiosity, and an eagerness to jump right in and learn alongside industry professionals.

Keep checking back throughout the summer to see where their experiences take them, the real projects they’ll work on, and how they finish strong.

Welcome to the team!

What you don’t see is just as impressive as what you do.

Before a single piece of mass timber arrived on-site, every pe*******on, connection, and opening was carefully coordinated in the design process.

There are no last-minute adjustments or field modifications. When the timber arrives, it fits together like a giant jigsaw puzzle, each piece exactly where it’s supposed to be. 🤝

Where are our interns now?

Ty Brown-Field, an architectural intern last summer, alongside two classmates, was awarded a grant from their proposal, which explores affordable housing opportunities in OKC through the adaptive reuse of old hotels and buildings into Single Room Occupancy (SRO) housing. The team received this grant from the Gibbs College of Architecture to support their research and continuing education.

We’re proud to see our interns creating such impact in our community!

Work environments often struggle with a balance between collaboration and privacy. Both are needed, so how do you address it?

Guernsey’s interior team approached one project with glass-enclosed meeting hubs that create privacy without feeling closed off. Subtle green accents were added throughout the space to bring a sense of calm and focus.

For group work, a light-filled conference room opens into the larger environment, encouraging connection.

Because the best workplaces don’t force you to choose between working together and having space to think.

If you’ve driven past downtown OKC, you’ve definitely noticed the bold, unique building taking shape… well, Guernsey is coordinating the interior design for the project, which provided some awesome challenges.

An irregular quadrilateral footprint means no easy angles and no room for wasted space.

Our team tackled the challenge with strategic space planning to eliminate dead zones and avoid long, tunnel-like corridors, while maximizing height with exposed ceilings and walls pushed to the structure.

Behind the scenes, it took thoughtful engineering and tight coordination to ensure balanced airflow and lighting: using a zoned mechanical system to prevent hotspots and dark corners.

Electrical systems don’t get many second chances. That’s why planned maintenance matters.

During a recent scheduled power shutdown for an industrial client, Guernsey’s electrical engineering team reviewed and evaluated the facility’s electrical system for power quality issues while equipment was safely offline.

It’s the kind of work most people never see behind panel doors, inside critical systems focused on reliability, safety, and preventing problems before they happen.

Guernsey understands the value of proactive electrical system assessments; it's just one of the many services our teams provide to help clients keep critical infrastructure running safely and efficiently.

Where are our interns now?

Guernsey’s Interior Design team recently had the opportunity to serve as invited reviewers for the University of Oklahoma Interior Design Senior Showcase in Norman.

One project carried a familiar feel for our team. OU student Brianna Holly, who interned with Guernsey last year, utilized the layout of Guernsey’s future downtown OKC headquarters as the floor plan for her capstone project. ❤️🎓

It’s always rewarding to see students connect classroom concepts with real-world environments, and even more meaningful when those experiences continue beyond an internship.

Thank you to The University of Oklahoma for the invitation, and congratulations to the graduating seniors as they take the next step into the design profession.

Guernsey’s full-service approach was introduced to 1st-4th-grade students at John Rex Elementary as “Building Anatomy”.

Our multidisciplinary team came up with ideas to make project components more digestible for kids. Each week, members from each discipline came up with engaging activities to help kids understand what it really takes to do design, engineering, and more! Thank you all for inspiring the next generation!
