Seeing our new boardroom come together feels almost surreal. It’s more than a finished room—it represents years of hard work, a lot of belief, and the people who have helped Mears Engineers grow into what it is today.

I’ll admit, thinking about that can bring tears to my eyes. I’m grateful for every person who has been part of this journey and for the opportunity to build a company with a purpose bigger than ourselves.

At Mears Engineers, “Giving Life to Rural Oklahoma” is more than a slogan. It reflects the reason we do this work: to know the people and communities we serve, take ownership of the challenges, and never forget who benefits from the solutions we create.

This boardroom will be a place for good conversations, thoughtful decisions, and plans that help rural communities move forward. I’m proud of what we’re building—and even more grateful for why we’re building it.

🌧️ All This Rain Can Reveal More Than Just Puddles!

With all the rain we’ve had over the past few days, now is the time to find out if your property or community has drainage issues. From standing water to flooding and poor runoff, heavy rainfall can reveal problems that may go unnoticed during drier weather.

At Mears Engineers, we’re here to help identify drainage concerns and develop solutions to keep water moving where it should. 💧

This office is more than a new building for us. It represents where we came from, how far we’ve come, and where we’re headed next.

I’m excited to finally open the doors and celebrate it with our clients, friends, family, and the communities that have supported us along the way.

Fun fact: My 3rd great-grandfather, Amos Anson, came to this part of Oklahoma around the turn of the century after serving in the Civil War. Family land records place him in the Gracemont/Hinton area, not far from Chickasha.

More than 120 years later, I’m still working in rural Oklahoma—just in a different way.

I have the old Anson family Bible, photographs, land records, and documents that have been handed down through the family. So if you live around Gracemont, Hinton, Anadarko, Binger, Fort Cobb, Carnegie, Chickasha or the surrounding area and your last name is Anson, send me a message. There’s a decent chance we’re connected, and I’d love to find more of the family.

It also makes serving communities in this part of Oklahoma a little more personal for me. Mears Engineers works with cities, towns, rural water districts and other public entities on water and wastewater systems, hydraulic analysis, infrastructure planning, funding, permitting, construction and the everyday engineering problems that determine whether a rural community can maintain what it has and continue to grow.

If you serve on a city council, town board, rural water district, public works authority or other local government in this area—or know someone who does—I’d appreciate an introduction. I’d love the opportunity to sit down, learn what your community needs and see whether Mears Engineers can help.

For me, this part of Oklahoma isn't just another place on a map. My family was building a life here more than a century ago. Helping rural Oklahoma build for the next century feels pretty personal.
