DRIVEN TO CREATE | Welded Patina Metal Table with Mahogany Top

At Built American Equipment, we’re Driven to Create. From time to time, we share projects we build simply because we enjoy creating.

For this project, we built a standing table frame using 1” × 1” square tubing, then left the raw steel outside for a few weeks to develop a natural patina. Once we had the look we wanted, we powder coated the frame with Prismatic Powders Matte Clear. The clear coat brought out the darker tones while sealing and preserving the patina.

For the top, we took a few mahogany boards, planed and sanded them, then finished the wood with tung oil to bring out the natural color and grain of the mahogany.

DRIVEN TO CREATE | George Washington Pop Art – Fourth of July

At Built American Equipment, we’re Driven to Create. From time to time, we share projects we build simply because we enjoy creating.

For a fun weekend project celebrating America’s Semiquincentennial, we created this pop art-inspired George Washington piece.

The finished piece measures 3’ × 3’ × 1.5” and was made from sheet metal that we laser cut, formed on a press brake, and powder coated to create the canvas. We also laser cut metal templates used to spray each painted layer, including the Ben-Day dot background, before finishing the piece with action drip painting.
