The Moorpark Downtown Specific Plan Update received unanimous support from the Moorpark City Council Wednesday evening!
This plan has been a year-long collaborative effort between DAI, Placeworks, the William Fulton Group, and the City of Moorpark Community Development Department, particularly Director Doug Spondello and Assistant Director Gene Burse. The effort was made possible through funding from the Southern California Association of Governments (S**G).
Wednesday's Council meeting was a real example of thoughtful local government in action. Councilmembers asked tough questions and engaged in meaningful discussions about everything from the larger vision for downtown to specific challenges and opportunities. Balancing Moorpark's small-town character with the desire to encourage economic growth and reinvestment isn't easy, and the discussion continued into the early hours of Thursday morning. It was clear that everyone involved was committed to getting it right.
What stood out most was the shared vision among the Council, City staff, and consultant team for the future of Moorpark's historic downtown.
A sincere thank you to Councilmembers Chris Barrett, Tom Means, Renee Delgado, and Mayor Chris Enegren for their unanimous support. Equally important, thank you to the Moorpark residents who participated and shared their thoughts throughout the process. Your input helped shape a plan that reflects the community's values and aspirations.
We're grateful to have been part of this effort and look forward to seeing the vision for downtown Moorpark become a reality!
