m6 is pleased to announce we are on board to provide project management services with the City of Oxnard for their new 26-acre Campus Park project.

The new park is funded by an $8.5 million grant provided by the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program. The new park will home a bicycle pump track, skate park, playground, basketball courts, pelota mixteca court, performing arts amphitheater, multi-use fields, community garden, public art, and walking trails.

We are pleased to announce we have been awarded a contract extension with the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM). m6 was originally retained by OSFM in 2017 to provide fire and life safety review for the diverse range of State-owned buildings and facilities under their jurisdiction. Some of these facilities include universities and colleges, prisons, camps, hospitals, State Parks, Cal Trans facilities, tunnels, power plants, flood control facilities, and state-owned administration buildings. m6 is one of a handful of companies in the United States that provides simultaneous plan review capability and expertise to both the State Chancellor’s Office and State Fire Marshal on some of their most challenging projects.

Description
We are seeking highly motivated, team-oriented individuals with outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and clerical/support skills. This position will perform a wide variety of technical, paraprofessional support and customer service duties related to Building and Safety and/or Public Works Department and will be responsible for supporting daily operations of the department’s public counter. This position will process building permits and permit applications as well as performing plan screening duties. In this position, you will be exposed to an average of 20+ daily interactions with both internal and external customers, while simultaneously managing emails, phone calls, and special projects. You will be expected to respond to inquiries and confer with developers, engineers, contractors, architects, and the public concerning development review requirements, building codes, and permit regulations at the counter and over the phone. Customer service related duties include routing incoming calls, greeting and directing public customers, evaluating permit application packages for completeness prior to submittal, answering permitting and procedural related questions, and managing the public counter. You will be expected to quickly and accurately process permit application/fees, establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and customers and work daily on the computer and related City permitting software.

Knowledge and Abilities
Compose and proofread a wide variety of reports, letters, and correspondences.
Competent with Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel and Power Point)
Read, understand, interpret, and explain rules and regulations
Maintain complex records and prepare reports and answer questions from records
Learn the organization, procedures, terminology and operating details of the Building and Safety and/or Public Works Department
Perform clerical work, including maintenance of appropriate records and preparation of general reports
Sort and file documents, records, maintaining alphabetical, index, and cross-reference files
Learn to utilize City GIS and permitting software on a daily basis.
Ability to work independently and exercise judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions
Coordinate with plan examiners and inspectors to ensure timely and accurate review and issuance of permits.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent

Experience
At least one year work experience in related industry
ICC Permit Technician certification is desirable.

Summary:

m6 Consulting is seeking a Public Works Inspector to join our team. Under general supervision, the individual in this position works both in the office and in the field to independently inspect moderate to complex public works projects; ensures compliance with plans, specifications, contract terms, and department standards; initiates project enforcement activities; performs related duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.

• Inspects roads, flood controls, parks, and construction work performed under contract to the City, including grading, dust control/SWPPP, placement of road base materials, A.C. paving, storm drain utility placement, culvert construction, placing of concrete and landscaping; enforces compliance with contract plans and specifications; monitors contractor work in progress; interprets and coordinates contract provisions with the contractor; reviews construction activity for safe operations and monitors project traffic control.
• Inspects subdivision construction work including over-excavation, rough grading, dust control, finish grading, er****on of concrete forms and falsework, placement and fabrication of structural steel, reinforcing steel and fencing; placement, consolidation, and curing of concrete; enforces compliance with plans, specifications, public works, and municipal standards and proper construction practices for work such as the installation of water, sewer, dry utilities, storm drain facilities and stipulates correction and repairs necessary before final acceptance is made; ensures proper placement and maintenance of signs, barricades, and warning devices; recommends to supervisor acceptance of public improvements in completed subdivisions.
• Inspects adjacent properties for damages from construction activity; coordinates inspections with other City departments; performs routine field tests; assists in writing and developing construction specifications for new construction.
• Documents inspection activities including, but not limited to, daily construction inspection reports, job site conditions, accident reports, and unsafe conditions; independently produces quantity takeoffs/measurements, tracks quantities and measurements during construction, prepare project punch lists, issues stop-work orders, non-compliance notices, and other notices and orders as directed.
• May answer emergency calls from the public, staff, and other agencies taking appropriate action as directed. Notifies residents and HOA's of upcoming projects coordinates vehicular access during projects coordinates activities with utility companies.

• Performs other duties of similar nature and level as assigned to address organizational needs and changing organization practices.

Qualifications and Guidelines

Education and/or Experience
Graduation from high school or equivalent; supplemented by any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance. Example combinations include at least two years of college-level training in engineering construction, public works or a related field, and five years of sub-professional engineering or journey level public works or heavy construction experience including some construction inspection experience. The ideal candidate is familiar with Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (Green Book) and the State of California, Caltrans, Standard Plans and Specifications.

License or Certificates:
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Extensive knowledge of public works construction and inspection; principles, practices, applicable laws, regulations, codes, and departmental policies governing the construction of public works projects and subdivisions; methods, materials, equipment, and safety hazards of construction; surveying, drafting, and mathematics to calculate areas, volumes, and elevations; technical report writing and preparation of correspondence; principles and practices of supervision and training.
• Skill in using a Windows-based desktop computer and computer-related equipment; modern office equipment operation, telephone systems, and radio communications equipment; preparing clearly written correspondence and technical reports involving mathematical computations; compiling and maintaining neat, accurate, and organized records necessary for successful job performance.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to interpret construction contracts, plans, and specifications applying applicable laws, rules and regulations.

We are so proud of our very own Luis Molina, who was recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers, Metropolitan Los Angeles Branch for his outstanding Civil Engineering Legislative Activities.
