Malone Specialty Inc. Malone Specialty Inc. is a leading provider of Metric, British, JIS, and foreign fluid flow connectio MALONE SPECIALTY INC. was founded in 1982.

is a leading provider of Metric, British, JIS, and other foreign fluid flow connections. For over thirty-three years, we have supplied Metric, British, JIS, and foreign threaded fluid connecting products for industrial, construction and transportation applications in North America. Its mission was to supply custom fluid connecting devices in metric threads. The first customer of the company was Mack Trucks Inc., who had just started selling the Mid-Liner series and wanted a domestic source for the metric fluid connectors as spare parts. This relationship quickly grew as Malone Specialty started to design and produce replacement lines and other components. Over the years the company has increased its engineering capabilities and broadened its product offerings to satisfy its truck and OEM customers. Excavators vs. Bulldozers: Understanding Their Roles

As discussed by SANY in “Excavator vs Bulldozer: Functions, Key Differences and How to Choose,” excavators and bulldozers are both used for earthmoving but are designed around different types of work.

Bulldozers use a front-mounted blade and strong propulsion to push material, clear land, and perform leveling work. Excavators are designed more around digging and flexible material handling. On many projects, the two machines perform complementary roles rather than serving as direct substitutes for one another.

Controlling Bulldozer Blade Lift Hydraulics

As described in the patent “Hydraulic system for bulldozer,” hydraulic control of blade lift cylinders can involve managing the pressure oil supplied to the cylinders as the blade is raised, lowered, or tilted.

The patented system addresses conditions that can create excessive torsional force on the bulldozer frame. It describes stopping or slowing blade lift cylinder operation by interrupting or limiting hydraulic oil flow when specified conditions are detected, illustrating the relationship between hydraulic control and mechanical protection.

Optimizing Hydrostatic Bulldozer Performance

As reported in Scientific Reports in “Research into performance optimization control strategy of a hydrostatic drive bulldozer based on the constant speed cruise,” researchers examined how coordinated engine and hydraulic system control could improve efficiency during constant-speed operation.

The proposed approach adjusted engine throttle along with hydraulic pump and motor displacement to match changing operating demands. In the final experiment, the study reported 4.1% lower total fuel consumption compared with the 1700 rpm constant-speed control strategy used as the benchmark.

Improving Bulldozer Fuel Efficiency Through Control Strategy

As explored in the Sustainability study “Research into Energy-Saving Control Strategies of a Bulldozer Driven by a Torque Converter Based on the Minimum Fuel Consumption Rate of the Whole Machine,” researchers developed a control strategy designed to improve bulldozer fuel efficiency by coordinating load, speed, and gear selection.

The study modeled the engine, hydraulic torque converter, and overall vehicle to identify more efficient operating points. Experimental testing reported a 12.5% reduction in overall fuel consumption rate compared with the constant-speed mode used for comparison, illustrating how coordinated powertrain control can influence heavy-equipment efficiency.

How Hydraulic Systems Power Bulldozers

As explained by Texas Fluid Power in “Hydraulic Systems In Dozers,” bulldozers rely heavily on hydraulic systems to provide the force and control needed to operate their working equipment.

Lift cylinders raise and lower the blade, while tilt cylinders change its angle for greater control during earthmoving. Some machines also use angle cylinders to move the blade from side to side, and additional hydraulics may operate attachments such as rippers.

Hydraulic Control in Unmanned Bulldozers

As discussed in “Modeling and Simulation Research on the Hydraulic System of the Blade of an Unmanned Bulldozer,” researchers modeled the hydraulic system and blade mechanism of an unmanned bulldozer to study blade behavior during digging, pushing, unloading, and resetting operations.

The study examined pressure, flow, and displacement in the blade's lifting and tilting hydraulic cylinders. Its simulations were used to evaluate smoother blade operation and support future trajectory planning, highlighting the importance of hydraulic control as construction equipment becomes more automated.

Hydraulic Hoses: Key Facts to Know

As discussed in Hose Right's “Hydraulic Hoses: The Facts,” hydraulic hoses play an important role in transferring pressurized fluid between components within mobile and industrial hydraulic systems.

Because hoses can operate under demanding pressure and environmental conditions, their construction and specifications need to match the system in which they are installed. Selecting suitable hoses and fittings, installing them correctly, and monitoring their condition are important considerations for dependable hydraulic equipment operation.

Key Factors Behind Hydraulic Hose Problems

As discussed by BOA Hydraulics in “Understanding Hydraulic Hose Failures,” hydraulic hoses operate under demanding conditions, and failures can occur when hoses are exposed to unsuitable pressure, abrasion, heat, poor routing, or other damaging conditions.

Regular inspection can help identify visible signs of deterioration such as cracking, abrasion, leaks, damaged fittings, or changes in hose condition. Combining inspection with appropriate hose selection and installation practices can help businesses maintain hydraulic systems and reduce unexpected interruptions.

A Practical Guide to Hydraulic Hoses

As explained by Tameson in “Understanding Hydraulic Hoses,” hydraulic hoses are flexible tubes designed to transport hydraulic fluid between components while operating under the pressure required by the system.

A typical hydraulic hose consists of multiple layers, including an inner tube that carries the fluid, reinforcement that provides strength, and an outer cover that protects against environmental conditions. Hose construction and material selection vary according to pressure, temperature, fluid compatibility, flexibility, and application requirements.
