An interesting and simple way to explain Amendment 3.

Florida's Amendment 3 promises homeowners significant property tax savings, but local leaders warn the relief could be offset by budget cuts to public safety and services — or erased entirely by new fees and tax increases from cash-strapped cities.

🚒 Historic Day For Polk County Professional Firefighters - IAFF Local 3531 🚒

Today marks a defining moment in the history of IAFF Local 3531 and Polk County Fire Rescue.

After countless hours of preparation, research, collaboration from both sides of the table, and negotiations, the Polk County Board of County Commissioners has tentatively agreed to implement a Delta (D) Shift schedule, with an implementation date of October 1 2027, pending final ratification by the Board of County Commissioners and IAFF Local 3531.

This achievement is the direct result of the dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment of our Local 3531 Negotiations Team. Their tireless work and determination made this historic agreement possible, and we extend our sincere gratitude for everything they have done on behalf of our membership.

This is more than a schedule change, it is an investment in our firefighters, our families, and the future of Polk County Fire Rescue. It represents a stronger organization, improved work life balance, and a continued commitment to providing exceptional service to the citizens of Polk County. While there is still one final step through the ratification process, we are proud of how far we've come together.

One Shift. One Mission. One Family.

Congratulations to every member who supported this effort and, most importantly, to our Negotiations Team for helping make history.

The members of Local 3590 are saddened by the passing of one of our former brother firefighters. Max Vose was a member of Local 3590 from 2012 - 2014.

While his time with our department ended years ago, the bonds of brotherhood never fade. He will always be remembered as part of our Maitland fire family.

Max lost his hard fight with colon cancer on Saturday. Please keep his loved ones and all who knew him in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Rest easy brother

Congratulations to Firefighter-Paramedic Logan Taylor for completing months of training to reach autonomous status with the Maitland Fire-Rescue Department.

Taylor completed 1,900 hours of additional department training and supervised ride-time to reach today’s recognition as an autonomous Paramedic, which allows him to work self-sufficiently – if needed – during emergencies.

Maitland Fire-Rescue prides itself on quality Advanced Life Support training before releasing a new Paramedic to autonomous status. Once a Paramedic completes a year of state required training, they must learn how to function as a Maitland Paramedic.

The department’s training program teaches the skills they need to handle any medical or trauma emergency using advanced protocols, equipment and medical treatment.

Congratulations to our brothers and sisters in Kissimmee!

Today marks the start of our new 24/72 shift! This change is designed to give our personnel the time and support they need to recover, stay mentally fit, and remain ready to serve when it matters most!

This moment comes after hundreds of hours of planning, training, and preparation, including retrofitting every fire station, ordering new uniforms and equipment, and making space in bunks and offices to support our new shift. We’re grateful to our staff for the work that made this possible.

We’re also grateful for the community, the city staff, and the families of our first responders. Thank you for working hard, for understanding, and for being there for our entire fire family as we took this step forward. Your support means everything to us.

We wish all of our first responders the very best as we begin this new chapter!

Congratulations to all our brothers and sisters that were promoted and/or recognized for their outstanding achievements!
