We enjoyed a great day at the Annual Virginia Water Environment Association NVRAC Golf Classic at 1757 Golf Club with great company, including Dream Finders Homes. It may have been a warm one, but it was a fun day filled with great conversations, networking, and time on the course!

The 2026 VTCA-VDOT Cost Estimation Summit brought together transportation professionals from across Virginia to discuss trends, challenges, and innovations shaping transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Commonwealth, and J2 was glad to be part of the conversation.

Sessions covered topics including SMART SCALE Round 7, risk-based estimating, ROW and utility considerations, and emerging technologies impacting project delivery and budgeting. One emerging topic that stood out was VDOT’s upcoming integration of AI into the cost estimation process, along with continued enhancements to estimating tools and resources.

A highlight of the summit was the I-81 construction site visit, which provided a firsthand look at the coordination and construction efforts behind major transportation improvements.

Please join us in welcoming Suzanne Geary-Henderson to J2 as our new Talent Acquisition & People Experience Manager! 🎉

In her new role, Suzanne is excited to support and grow our talented team, partner with leadership and hiring managers, and create a positive experience for both candidates and employees alike. She also enjoys building processes, improving collaboration, and helping foster a culture where people genuinely enjoy working together.

What drew Suzanne to J2 most was our people and culture. She shared that J2’s collaboration, professionalism, and commitment to employees made it feel like a place where she could contribute immediately while continuing to grow professionally.

Outside of work, she’s a huge dog lover and is actively involved with animal rescue organizations. She and her family have two English Bulldogs and their newest Frenchie/Pitbull puppy named Craig. 🐶

Full circle moments like this are what it’s all about!
This month, J2 Civil Engineers Jacob and Zabih returned to Virginia Tech for the final presentations of students they mentored throughout the semester as part of the Land Development Design Initiative (LDDI) program.

Throughout the semester, the students worked through the design process for a real-world project originally completed by J2, developing their own site designs with guidance from industry professionals along the way.

What makes this especially meaningful is that both Jacob and Zabih were once part of the same LDDI program during their time at Virginia Tech before beginning their careers at J2. Now, they’ve come full circle, helping mentor and inspire the next generation of engineers.

We’re proud to support programs that connect students with real-world experience and mentorship opportunities.

After more than 40 years in the engineering industry and nearly two decades helping shape J2, co-founder Jim Bishoff has retired from full-time employment as of April 30.

From the beginning, Jim believed in building something different, a firm grounded in strong relationships, mentorship, and a people-first culture. That vision continues to shape who we are today.

Known for his technical expertise, integrity, and ability to bring people together, Jim has made a lasting impact on our team, our clients, and our industry. While stepping back from full-time responsibilities, Jim will continue supporting J2 as a part-time Senior Advisor and subject matter expert.

Thank you, Jim, for everything you have built and the many people you have impacted along the way!

Today, Loudoun County celebrated the groundbreaking of its new Government Office Complex, marking an important step toward creating a more centralized and accessible hub for public services.

Phase 1 of the project includes a 125,000 SF, multi-story office building that will bring together key departments into a one-stop service center for the development community.

Our team is proud to support this effort in partnership with HGA and Loudoun County, providing planning, civil engineering, surveying, and landscape architecture services.
