Trial & Error with summer plants!
Here’s what I planted this week;

My Thriller:
Purple Angelonia (or Alonia)

My Filler:
White Sun Patience

My Spiller:
Lime Green Sweet Potato Vine

I fed them with Miracle Grow All Purpose Shake & Feed (this post is not sponsored! It’s literally what I had in my garage!)

I have mainly full sun on my back porch & we live in Baldwin County, Alabama. Think Hot. Plants melt. I needed something that will survive the summer & be low maintenance. I have no idea how these will work. I’ve never tried these plants.

If you’re repainting the interior of your house, try to use your existing trim color! It will save you in materials & labor costs.

Your trim color includes things like your crown molding, your window casing, your baseboards, your interior doors, possibly your mantle. It could even be your ceiling color.

…And do not assume that color is white. It may be a version of White, but there’s no such thing as White trim paint. It is a color.

It may be Benjamin Moore White Dove. It may be Sherwin-Williams Pure White. It could be High Reflective White, it could be Chantilly Lace, it could be ONE million different things.

The problem is that if you assume that it’s white and you don’t match your wall color to it, it could be a disaster. That white color may actually be cream and you may end up with yellow trim! Maybe your old wall color looked great with it, but your new wall color may bring out yellow undertones. I’ve seen it happen!

Picking out kitchen and bathroom fixtures at a big box store can feel really overwhelming — and that’s completely normal. If you’re only picking a few items, it’s completely doable! If you have to pick plumbing fixtures for your entire new house or renovation, it’s definitely harder in my opinion.

The difference a showroom experience makes? Night and day. Curated selections, a designer by your side, and no more decision fatigue.

Save this list of materials you may select at ONE of your FIRST design appointments for your custom built home:

1️⃣ Windows (There’s SO much to learn. Start your research now.)

2️⃣ Exterior & Interior Doors

3️⃣ Exterior & Interior Door Hardware (Hinge color? Yep, you’ll select it.)

4️⃣Millwork (Things like baseboards, crown molding, window & door casings, ceiling designs, fireplace designs, anywhere you may want “extra trim.”)

There are countless options for all of these materials!

Also, there are so many factors that play into each selection.

These design decisions all tie in together to create the overall look & feel of your home.

If you’ve never built or renovated a house before, it’s a hard path to walk alone.

So happy to represent my out of state buyers through this home buying journey! It can be a challenge to find the perfect home for your family when you are not familiar with the area & not able to see it in person. I was so happy to represent my buyers through this process. You can research them online or in a showroom!

Educate your self on costs. It will help to avoid budget busters!

Learn from my mistake, because I’ve totally told the painter…
“We’re going with Alabaster for the wall color!” 😑

So what’s the problem & how do you avoid it?

Paint colors have numbers to identify the paint formulas. They are usually located next to the name.

Those numbers identify the paint color…But why do they have both a name & a number?

Different paint companies may use the same name for different paint colors? 🤔

So, let’s go back to my mistake on “Alabaster.”

Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams BOTH have a WHITE paint named Alabaster & they do NOT look the same!

Chelsea Gray is another color with the same name by both companies. It can be sooo confusing. 😩

But it doesn’t have to be…

⭐️Pro Tip: Always include:
✨Paint name,
✨Number &
✨Manufacturer name to order your paint.

In other words, don’t just tell your painter, “I want Alabaster.”

So which colors are my favorite?

I love Alabaster SW 7008 (Sherwin-Williams) and Chelsea Gray HC-168 (Benjamin Moore)!
