Yesterday, the weather 🌧 kept 7th grade students out of the fields to watch local farmer George Greiner plant the annual sweet corn patch at Cambria Heights🙁 But it did not stop them learning about agriculture!
Local farmers Tommy Nagle, Marty Yahner, George Greiner, and Ethan Hoover spoke with students on a variety of topics ranging from modern ag technology, equipment, and pratices 🚜 The goal was for students to see how food, fuel, and fiber makes it back to them, the consumer.
Special thanks to Bedford Farm Bureau Co-op and agronomist Matt Poorman for donating the sweet corn seed! Matt also discussed with students about soil health, fertility, and management for crop production🌱
