Cambria County Farm Bureau

Cambria County Farm Bureau When farmers notice a problem, they want to fix it. Sometimes, the problems are too big for one farm

From easing regulations on high tunnels, changing a law to allow wider equipment on the roads, or making it easier to expand agritourism, we’re leading the way forward together. When one member has an idea, thousands of members make it a reality.

Yesterday, the weather 🌧 kept 7th grade students out of the fields to watch local farmer George Greiner plant the annual sweet corn patch at Cambria Heights🙁 But it did not stop them learning about agriculture!

Local farmers Tommy Nagle, Marty Yahner, George Greiner, and Ethan Hoover spoke with students on a variety of topics ranging from modern ag technology, equipment, and pratices 🚜 The goal was for students to see how food, fuel, and fiber makes it back to them, the consumer.

Special thanks to Bedford Farm Bureau Co-op and agronomist Matt Poorman for donating the sweet corn seed! Matt also discussed with students about soil health, fertility, and management for crop production🌱

The PA Farms to Families Immersion Lab will be at the Summertime Jubilee ☀️ at Vale Wood Farms on June 7th from 11am - 5pm.

The Lab allows guests to learn about PA farms, virtual tractor driving, quiz on common produce, build a balanced meal with PA grown foods, and learn about the community it takes to bring food from the field to the plate for PA families.

We are seeking volunteers🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️ to help operate the Lab at the Jubilee. We have a 1pm - 3pm and 3pm - 5pm shift available to work. This is a great way to help your local Farm Bureau and enjoy the Jubilee! Call or text Michaela Dickert at 814-242-7507.

This week is Rural Road Safety Week, and it's a cause close to our hearts.

Our rural roads connect us to the people and places we love most. But as planting season approaches, those same roads get busier with the tractors and farm equipment that feed our communities and our country.

This year, a few extra minutes of patience could save a life.

Slow down. Stay alert. Give them space.
