REMINDER:

Fall Clean Sweep and Leaf Pickup are on the way!

Here's what you need to know!
- Check burlingtonvt.gov/dpw
- Clean Sweep runs from 10PM until 7AM the following day! (in Zone F/Downtown, this is midnight - 6AM). Don't park back on-street until Clean Sweep is over for your zone. The sweeper may make multiple passes.
- Move your car on your night of fall sweeping (visit our website for more info).
- Park for free in either of the two city garages on your night of sweeping.
- Remind your neighbors!
- For Leaf pickup week, put your leaves out on your recycling morning & visit cswd.net for additional leaf drop off options

Please plan to participate! These are important initiatives for water quality. Email or call with questions!

The City of Burlington’s Department of Public Works (DPW), in partnership with the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC), invites you to the second public meeting for the Main Street Multimodal Study! There will be draft alternatives to review and share comments on.

This transportation study aims to identify improvements for the Main Street corridor (outside of recently reconstructed areas) focused on continuous, safe, and accessible routes along and across Main Street for people walking, biking, rolling, and taking transit.

Your feedback is essential to shaping the study and its recommendations.

Don't flush away your chance to see some incredibly important films at this year's Vermont Internatinoal Film Festival (VT IFF). That includes our favorite "Unless Something Goes Terribly Wrong," described as "A buddy comedy about p**p and the thankless pursuit of making a better world, Unless Something Goes Terribly Wrong will make you rethink sewage and wastewater. Fact is, wastewater plants across the country have aged beyond their intended lifespans, plagued by cracking pipes, faulty equipment, and cancer-causing PFAs. USGTW examines the day-to-day operations of one wastewater facility and the funny, close-knit, and inventive individuals working to keep it all running."

We are pleased to share that our very own Matt Dow - Director of Burlington's Wastewater Facilities at DPW - will be on a panel discussion after the viewing on October 22 at 4:15PM. Tickets are still available.

Project: Water main construction at Main & Summit.

Date: Beginning as early as Tuesday 10/20 - starting at 7AM and lasting 24/7 through Friday 10/23 at approximately 5PM.

Travel Impacts: Main Street will be closed from South Prospect to South Willard St. Traffic will be detoured to College or Maple. There will be northbound travel on Summit St, but no turns will be permitted onto Main St.

Parking Impacts: There will be no parking on this stretch of Main Street during this work.

Note to the traveling public: Please plan extra time for your travels and check burlingtonvt.gov/dpw for any major changes to this work plan.

We are pleased to announce the second annual Fall Clean Sweep in Burlington, running from November 4 - 13.

As a reminder, cars must be off the street on your zone's night of sweeping. There is free parking in the Marketplace and Downtown garages. You can find more information - including an interactive map to find your zone at http://burlingtonvt.gov/cleansweep.

Fall Leaf Pickup is also running November 16-20. Put leaves out in biodegradable bags on your recycling day. More info at http://burlingtonvt.gov/dpw.

This initiative - funded by Water Resources - is a vital part of our water quality work. Burlington has entered a renewed era of reinvestment into Lake Champlain and its wastewater treatment system.

Please plan for about one hour, although total time will vary based on how many questions are asked during the tour.

Stormwater Project Update

Our contractor will be performing sidewalk repairs on the west side of North Ave at the Cemetery (adjacent to the fencing).

2 lane traffic will be maintained, but shifted to allow concrete trucks to access the worksite. Flaggers will be on-site. This is anticipated to be approximately 60 minutes at each of the two locations.

Pedestrians will be detoured for the entire day. Those traveling south on the west side of North Ave at Seahorse Street will be detoured to the east side.

Those traveling north on the west side of North Ave will be detoured at the flashing light crosswalk by the gas station.

Please travel safely.
