Headed out to a Burlington Beach? Know before you go! Keep up to date on water testing and beach closures on the City's live-updated Beach Closure Tracker: www.burlingtonvt.gov/1219/Beach-Closure-Tracker

During the summer season, our teams test for elevated levels of toxins in the lake water that could be a health hazard to swimmers and watergoers. Learn more about water testing at Burlington Beaches on our website: burlingtonvt.gov/961/Water-Testing-at-Burlington-Beaches

We want to let you know that DPW will be closed on Monday May 25th for Memorial Day. This is one of only five days per year we currently do not collect recycling (Memorial Day, Independence Day or weekday observed, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas or weekday observed).

For Monday customers, please hold your recycling until the following Monday. And a reminder to all Burlingtonians - the CSWD drop off center on Pine Street is now open and has expanded services to include trash and more. For more information on fees, accepted materials and hours, visit CSWD.net.

Stay tuned for updates on the transition to Casella recycling collection - with City oversight - beginning January 2027.

As always, if you need to reach us urgently while we are away, our team is available. Please visit https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/606/After-Hours-Services-Hours for after-hours options.

We hope you have a pleasant and restful long weekend.

Multiple crews are out today making paving progress on a number of fronts: Main Street & Colchester Avenue specifically. We know this causes short-term disruptions for you and, as always, appreciate your patience.

If things are feeling extra stuck downtown this afternoon, it's because our Water Distribution crew is conducting an urgent valve repair on College St between Winooski and Union, which has temporarily closed eastbound travel. This is being backfilled now and expected to wrap up shortly.

Main Street is still on time and on budget for a late spring/early summer conclusion. The paving work this week and likely the week of 5/18 will be among the most disruptive for the season. Sign up for Main Street updates at burlingtonvt.gov/construction. Please plan extra time for your travels, follow all posted detour signs and leave extra room for crews.

Thank you .

When the lights are on, the cars are gone!

Clean Sweep is vital to Lake health and our health. It prevents nutrient pollution from reaching the Lake, keeps the roads safer by clearing them of debris and protects our infrastructure by limiting flooding from clogged storm drains.
