Here's a little Friday fun-fact for you: did you know helical piles were invented nearly 200 YEARS ago? 🤯

Despite their reputation as a "new" technology, they were actually first patented all the way back in 1833.

Almost two centuries later, their basic design hasn't really changed.

Even though manufacturing processes, install equipment, and materials have evolved, the core concepts are STILL the same as in 1833.

I meet Jim and Pat Lovette at the Vermont Home show this winter. They hired Postech Burlington to install piles for a new porch to replace their deck. I was lucky enough to meet Les Wetmore of Spruce Mountain Carpentry at a site visit to discuss the project. Here are some completed photos of the job. Jim and Pat have another project upcoming at their camp on Lake Champlain. Les has already booked another project with us, and we are meeting next month for another consultation on another project.
