At the centre of the project is Sea Machines Robotics STORMRUNNER, an 8‑metre autonomous USV designed for offshore operations, combining high speed, long endurance and a modular payload architecture. The platform has been selected to demonstrate Leonardo DRS, Inc. Maritime Mission Equipment Package (MMEP), integrating radar, electrooptical/infrared sensors and AI-enabled command and control to detect and respond to aerial drone threats in real time.

The platform incorporates a twin 300hp V8 diesel outboard configuration, providing the high torque, fuel efficiency and reliability required to achieve its high speed, long endurance operational profile, while supporting integration with onboard systems and remote operations.

In July, our TMICOX team met the Cox Powertrain management team in person at their manufacturing facility in the UK.

✅ Vessel successfully launched!

In April, our team successfully completed the commissioning of a twin Cox Marine 300HP V8 diesel outboards installation on a recreational workboat in Qingdao, China.

From planning and integration to testing and final handover, the workboat demonstrated the power, durability, and fuel efficiency that Cox diesel outboards are known for.

Why do some boats run triple 300HP outboards instead of twins?
