AI should make maintenance decisions clearer - not remove engineering judgement.

Condition-monitoring platforms can process large volumes of equipment data, highlight abnormal behaviour and provide possible fault insights or recommended actions.

But an alert still needs context.

What is the asset’s operating duty? How critical is it to production? Has the load changed? Is an immediate shutdown necessary, or can the issue be monitored until the next planned maintenance window?

Replacing a 6.6 kV, 1,720 kW motor for a critical boiler feed pump is not simply a matter of matching the power rating.
Every interface matters.
For this power station retrofit project, JD Works began with a detailed site survey to assess the ageing motor, existing installation and actual operating environment.
Our engineers then developed a one-for-one replacement designed to match the existing:
• Mounting footprint
• Shaft dimensions and interfaces
• Terminal box arrangement
• Cabling and electrical connections
• Other critical mechanical interfaces
The result was a true drop-in replacement, avoiding modifications to the existing foundation, pump and electrical connections.
Beyond physical compatibility, the replacement incorporates a modernised design with improved efficiency, standardised components and easier future maintenance. The customised solution also provided a shorter lead time compared with sourcing a replacement through the original OEM route.
This project demonstrates the value of engineering around the customer’s existing assets—minimising site modifications while bringing critical equipment up to a more maintainable, future-ready standard.

Predictive maintenance does not begin with a prediction.

Two motors of the same model may behave differently because of load, speed, installation, environment and operating duty. That is why a single vibration reading rarely tells the whole story.

DS310 or DS311? The right choice starts with the installation environment.

For rotating equipment in open, unobstructed locations, the DHMSCare DS310 wireless vibration and temperature sensor provides three-axis vibration and temperature monitoring in a compact, battery-powered design.

For equipment located inside metal enclosures or shielded environments, the DS311 uses an external antenna to help address wireless signal attenuation.

Both are designed to support condition monitoring of rotating assets. The gateway then aggregates sensor data and transfers it to the monitoring platform through Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
