Inspired by his father’s service in the Navy, he knew early on that he wanted to serve his country.

That path led him into the U.S. Army, where he trained and served as both a combat medic and a practical nurse.

His service eventually took him to Iraq, where he worked in intense and often unpredictable conditions, helping stabilize injured soldiers before they could be evacuated. It was demanding work, physically, mentally, and emotionally, but it also reinforced a deep sense of purpose.

Like many in similar situations dealing with ALS, Terry found himself adjusting, not only to the physical changes, but to the emotional weight of what lay ahead.
But over time, he made a decision.

I’ve got to keep going.”

That decision led him back into activity, including working out at the YMCA and reconnecting with a sense of routine and community. For Terry, staying active became more than physical, it became a way of maintaining identity, purpose, and hope.
