Every last-mile deployment comes with its own unique challenges. Obe-Nla was no different. 🌊
Situated along the coastline, traditional grid infrastructure was never a realistic option for a community like this one. Built on waterlogged land, where saltwater corrodes metal, damages concrete and the population is too small to make a mini-grid viable for developers, mesh-grids are the only solution that makes sense. And for a fishing community that needs freezers to preserve their catch, reliable electricity is a lifeline.
And that's exactly what the Ashdam Solar and Okra Solar teams came to deliver. ⚡
After three days of tireless work, Samuel, Ashdam Solar's project manager on the ground, described the experience as both exhausting and deeply rewarding, with real, meaningful progress made every step of the way.
And when you hear from the community itself, you understand why. Lorgo, a fisherman in Obe-Nla, called it a miracle: electricity in his home for the first time, light where there was none before. 💡
This is what bringing Power to the People really looks like.
