WHEN THE JOB DOESN’T LEAVE MUCH ROOM | Tight space. Big demands. The right hydraulic solution.

Jonel teamed up with Brian Perry Civil on a challenging post-tensioning job at Rydges Wellington. The project required three pairs of 56mm VSL rods to be pulled to 1781kN (178 Tonne!) each, with less than 800mm of working room. The team needed a solution that could accommodate the large VSL nuts while meeting a tight project timeline.

Jonel’s solution? Bespoke chairs paired with Enerpac tensioners, designed to work within the restricted space and deliver the required tension. The result: the rods were successfully tensioned to specification and the project stayed on schedule.

It was a challenging setup, but the Jonel team worked with Brian Perry Civil to find the right solution and get the job done.

FROM SEA TO WORKSHOP 🚢 | When a vessel laying fibre cable between New Zealand, Australia and the USA had two large hydraulic cylinders blow their seals, getting them repaired quickly became critical.

The 3.2-tonne cylinders were transported to the Jonel Hydraulics workshop, where our team got to work on the repairs—including shaft re-chroming, barrel honing, piston redesign, new seal kits, reassembly and testing.
