Rylock Windows & Doors

Rylock Windows & Doors The Rylock™ brand was started in New Zealand back in 1954 as a manufacturer of aluminium fly screens. We've learnt a lot since then.

In the early sixties, along with fly screens, we started producing aluminium windows, these quickly became our core business. Since then Rylock™ has gone on to become one of New Zealand's most well-known joinery brands. Rylock's philosophy is to design and install windows that fit with the lifestyle of New Zealanders. Rylock™ is committed to being at the forefront of leading edge design, providing

its customers with the most up to date products and features on the market. We understand there are many factors that need to be considered when choosing the right windows and doors, like indoor/outdoor flow, temperature control and sound reduction, safety and security, functionality and style. That's why we are proud to supply the innovative LevelStep™, Eurostacker™ and Foldback™ Bifold along with a multitude of other window and door options from our range of product systems. Other options include double & triple glazing, tinting, thermally broken joinery and passive ventilation.

When we say fewer emissions, we mean it, and we can prove it.

At Tiwai Point, over 330,000 tonnes of aluminium are produced each year, with one of the lowest carbon footprints in the world.

Around 2 tonnes of CO₂ per tonne of aluminium, compared to the global average of 13.

It’s not just better aluminium. It’s better by design.

How aluminium is made matters.

At Rylock®, the aluminium in our windows and doors is sourced from Tiwai Point in Southland, where it’s produced using renewable hydroelectric energy from Manapouri Power Station.

Globally, aluminium production often relies on coal-fired smelters – resulting in up to 4x more emissions than hydro-powered production. While the international average sits at around 13 tonnes of CO₂ per tonne of aluminium, New Zealand’s hydro-sourced aluminium is significantly lower and dramatically cleaner at around 2 tonnes.

Global supply is tighter in 2026, with energy constraints, trade policies and limited smelting capacity all influencing pricing.

The good news? Local supply matters more than ever.

At Rylock®, our extrusion supply is supported by aluminium sourced from New Zealand’s Tiwai Point smelter, helping provide confidence in quality and continuity for your project.

We’ve shared a simple overview of what’s happening globally, and what it means here at home. Read the full article here: https://rylock.co.nz/about-us/news/the-price-of-aluminium
