Nulook®, established over half a century ago, is a nationwide network of independently owned licensed Fabricators who form part of the Altus® Window Systems window and door network. Nulook® has grown through development, acquisition, and amalgamation of the Barker, Rolls, and Circle brands, and more recently the addition of a number of conversions from competing brands as they seek to capitalise o

Huge congrats to Andrew, Chris, Petr, and the Raylight Aluminium team at Nulook® West Christchurch. Their outstanding regenerative work done as part of the restoration of Cotters Lane, has just been named as a Finalist in the 2026 WGANZ Design Awards (Commercial – South Island category).

This landmark Christchurch project showcases the sensitive integration of contemporary aluminium joinery within a restored heritage façade. Working closely with the architect and builder, Raylight Aluminium delivered bespoke glazing solutions – including a striking upper‑level curtain wall spanning nearly 10 metres and rising 5.2 metres – combining precision detailing, Low‑E performance glazing, and integrated aluminium louvres. Together with the reinstated Central Arcade, the project balances architectural memory, modern performance, and long‑term
Durability.

Well done to the team – this is a powerful example of craftsmanship, technical excellence, and heritage‑led regeneration in an urban context.

Huge congrats to Mark, Aaron, and the Nulook® Northland team. Their replacement of the coloured curtain wall at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dargaville, has just been named as a Finalist in the 2026 WGANZ Design Awards (Commercial – North Island category).

This carefully executed renewal demonstrates how contemporary aluminium glazing can preserve the spiritual atmosphere and architectural intent of an existing building while delivering modern performance and longevity. Replacing failing timber curtain walls, the project honours original proportions, coloured glazing patterns, and the defining role of light – while meeting seismic, durability, and low‑maintenance requirements through bespoke detailing and collaborative delivery.

Well done to the team on a thoughtful and technically demanding project that balances heritage sensibility, performance, and community purpose.

When we say fewer emissions, we mean it, and we can prove it.
At Tiwai Point, over 330,000 tonnes of aluminium are produced each year, with one of the lowest carbon footprints in the world.

Around 2 tonnes of CO₂ per tonne of aluminium, compared to the global average of 13.

It’s not just better aluminium. It’s better by design.

How aluminium is made matters.

At Nulook®, the aluminium in our windows and doors is sourced from Tiwai Point in Southland, where it’s produced using renewable hydroelectric energy from Manapouri Power Station.

Globally, aluminium production often relies on coal-fired smelters – resulting in up to 4x more emissions than hydro-powered production. While the international average sits at around 13 tonnes of CO₂ per tonne of aluminium, New Zealand’s hydro-sourced aluminium is significantly lower and dramatically cleaner at around 2 tonnes.

Global supply is tighter in 2026, with energy constraints, trade policies and limited smelting capacity all influencing pricing.

The good news? Local supply matters more than ever.

At Nulook®, our extrusion supply is supported by aluminium sourced from New Zealand’s Tiwai Point smelter, helping provide confidence in quality and continuity for your project.

We’ve shared a simple overview of what’s happening globally, and what it means here at home. Read the full article here: https://nulook.co.nz/about-us/news/the-price-of-aluminium

Not all aluminium window and door systems in New Zealand are assessed under our unique conditions.

Ours are designed, engineered and rigorously tested here to meet relevant New Zealand building standards, from coastal corrosion and high wind zones to structural strength and weathertightness.

That means confidence you can rely on, in the environments our homes and buildings actually face.
