⚙️ 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲

We recently completed a retrofit on a machine that used a mechanical disc variator gearbox to control the speed of an oscillating rotor.

The challenge was that the original variator had failed and had become obsolete, leaving the client without a straightforward replacement solution.

At JMartans Automation, we redesigned the drive system and eliminated the obsolete variator completely. 🔧

Our solution included:
⚙️ A custom-machined mechanical connection to replace the original variator
🔩 A new motor, selected to meet the required torque
🎛️ Inverter-based speed control for accurate and flexible adjustment of the rotor speed
🖥️ A dedicated HMI providing easy operation, speed adjustment and calibration
🛠️ Integration of the complete control system within a stainless-steel enclosure, suitable for pharmaceutical applications

The result solution keeps the existing machine in service while replacing an obsolete mechanical system with a much more flexible drive and control solution. ✅
Obsolete equipment does not always mean replacing the entire machine, sometimes the right retrofit can give it a new life. ♻️

🔥 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁

Proud to share another completed project, a heater control system retrofit, upgrading an existing unit to meet the client's specific operational requirements.
This modification now features precise digital control over both temperature and time for fully automated heating cycles.
Here's what went into the build:

🌡️ IR Temperature Sensor for accurate real-time monitoring
🎛️ Process Controller for precise temperature regulation
⏱️ Programmable Timer for fully configurable heating cycles

The result? A reliable, user-friendly system where operators can set their exact time and temperature parameters.

We’ve started this week with the second session of our 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗟𝗖 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 - and the response continues to exceed expectations.

Over the past 2 years, this course has helped many participants build a strong foundation in PLC programming through a practical, hands-on approach. This session also includes additional training kits to further enhance the learning experience, alongside access to online simulation tools so every participant can actively practice throughout the course.
