That's a wrap on our fifth annual Kirby Way Series!

With almost 300 participants taking part, it was fantastic to see everyone cross the finish line of our 100km and 50km cycle routes and 10km run safely and in great spirits! Our colleagues in Cape Town also took part, hosting their own local cycle and run.

We raised funds for a number of charities and were delighted to welcome representatives from Galway Hospice and The National Maternity Hospital Foundation to Portlaoise to speak to participants ahead of the safety briefing.

A special thank you to our organising committee, Civil Defence and volunteers, whose hard work and dedication helped ensure everyone had such an enjoyable day.

We’re proud to announce the launch of Constructing Equality Ireland, a new industry-led initiative bringing organisations together to accelerate gender equality across Ireland’s built environment sector. As a Founding Partner, Kirby Group Engineering is committed to working with industry peers to develop practical, evidence-based solutions to improve the attraction, retention and progression of women across the industry.

Henry McCann, CEO at Kirby Group Engineering, said: “Without diversity of thought and experience, our industry is weaker. Kirby is committed to increasing female representation and supporting women at every stage of their careers. We’re proud to support Constructing Equality Ireland and work with the sector to build a more inclusive future.”

Over the coming months, industry roundtables will bring organisations together to share insights and identify barriers and opportunities for women in construction. The first roundtable takes place on 6 October and will focus on attracting women into construction through early-career recruitment pathways. More details about the roundtables will be released soon.

Findings from the roundtables will inform an industry-wide Gender Equality Action Plan, designed to provide practical and actionable support for organisations of all sizes. We encourage organisations across the sector to join the conversation and help shape a more equal future for our industry.
